Planning and Permits The CVCA has in effect the Development, Interference with Wetlands and Alterations to Shorelines and Watercourses Regulations (Ontario Regulation 159/06) made under the Conservation Authorities Act. This regulation prevents or restricts development and site alterations near water and wetlands to protect you and the public from flooding, erosion, and other hazards.

Birth/Death/Marriage/Adoption Disclosure Certificates / New Parentage Rules • 1.800.461.2156 Drive Clean • 1.888.758.2999 Driver’s Licence • 1.800.387.3445 Elder Abuse Senior Safety Line • 1.866.299.1011 Health Infoline • 1.888.376.5197 Ontario Drug Benefit Program • 1.866.532.3161 Ontario Photo Card • 1.800.268.4686 Ontario Travel • 1.800.668.2746 Publications Ontario • 1.800.668.9938 Public Guardian & Trustee • 1.800.366.0335 Road Conditions • 1.800.268.4686 • Cellular 511 Seniors’ Info Line • 1.888.910.1999 Ontario Works Welfare Fraud Hotline 1.800.394.STOP (7867)

The CVCA also provides planning and technical advice to assist the municipalities in our watershed in fulfilling their land use planning responsibilities associated with natural hazard management, natural heritage and water resources (as outlined in the Provincial Policy Statement). Planning Considering the natural environment is an important part of land use planning. When staff review individual applications for development made under the Planning Act, we look to ensure natural hazards, natural heritage features, and water features will not be negatively affected by the proposed development. At the same time, we work to ensure that a completed development project will not itself be negatively impacted by natural hazards, including flooding.

Hastings Pisces Park Following its designation as Canada’s Ultimate Fishing Town in 2012, a group of local citizens committed to commemorate the honour by establishing permanent sculptures. Working with critically acclaimed artist Bill Lishman, the first installation of the School of Fish was Hastings Pisces Pete – a 12-foot stainless steel Walleye – the most popular fish for local anglers, and a revered game fish. Fundraising is underway to create oversized sculptures of other fish found in the Hastings area.
