Adelaide Airport Project location: Adelaide, South Australia Funding recipients: SA Water Total Australian Government funding: $4,864,000 (GST exclusive) Water savings: up to 250 ML/yr About the project: The project will construct stormwater harvesting infrastructure which includes: a major storage basin; biofiltration and media filtration treatment plant; aquifer injection and extraction bores; and a holding tank, pumps and piping for distribution of harvested and treated stormwater. The scheme will source water from Brownhill/Keswick Creek system. A major storage basin will capture flows which will then be pumped to treatment facilities. Project benefits/objectives: • Construct stormwater harvesting and reuse infrastructure which, once operational, has the capacity to reduce potable water demand by up to 250 megalitres per year (ML/yr) by replacing supply with treated stormwater. • Promote the sustainable use of alternative water supplies in the Adelaide urban environment. Project progress: The project is due for completion by October 2013. Stormwater Harvesting and Reuse projects are funded by the Australian Government’s Water for the Future initiative.
