2003 Trent makes eight Oshawa-based tenure track appointments in five disciplines
Trent’s Oshawa Information Office and University faculty offices are consolidated in the Simcoe Building providing the first dedicated space for Trent University on the Durham College/UOIT campus
Trent and UOIT develop a separate Registration Protocol to facilitate student registration between the two institutions
1998-1999 Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MTCU) creates a
special purpose grant for university level programs to be offered at Durham College, under the umbrella of the University Centre of Durham (UCD), formerly DUC – arrangement allows Trent to offer and stabilize full-time academic programs during the day and evening
Inaugural Trent University Oshawa Research Day held to showcase diversity of research by Oshawa faculty and students

2002 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is signed among Trent, Durham College, and UOIT allowing Trent to offer UOIT degree program electives to students; agreement defines process for the development of joint programs; elaborates on articulation agreements with Durham College; and includes a process for ongoing consultations
2004 Trent makes an additional tenure-track appointment, bringing the total positions to nine
Trent University Oshawa officially becomes its own dedicated campus Discussions with UOIT about a continuing agreement proceed with the same elective arrangements in place as before for the 2010-11 academic year, and with the intent of forging a new partnership for the future Trent secures a commitment of support from the City of Oshawa for the new Thornton Road Campus by granting a 75-year lease of lands for parking facilities to Trent for nominal consideration and committing to a partnership in providing access to athletics facilities for Trent students
