Trent: your community, your home Whether you live on campus or off, study full- or part-time, you will feel at home at Trent. As members of Trent’s College community, you can take part in rich and varied intellectual, cultural, social and recreational life, as well as academic and support services to help you succeed. In fact, studies have shown that students who engage in the life of a college have higher rates of success in university. Special lecture series, informal gatherings, co-curricular learning workshops, seminars or leadership opportunities are just a few of the ways your college will help you connect with other students and faculty. Each college has its own character and traditions that enhance the living and learning environment.
Lady Eaton College
Champlain College
Otonabee College
Gzowski College
LEC is located on a hillside near a collection of trails and paths overlooking the university.
Champlain College embodies the same spirit of adventure and discovery as the famous French explorer for which it is named. Situated on the West Bank of the Otonabee River, Champlain is a scenic place for both casual and formal activities. At the centre of the college is the impressive Great Hall– a multi-purpose space for studying, public lectures, concerts, receptions, and hanging-out. Champlain is home to the Trent International Program, the Seasoned Spoon Café (an organic student-cooperative), as well as the Trent Global Living Community, La Maison Française, and Active Living.
The word “Otonabee,” from the Anishnaabe language, means “fast and boiling waters.” It gives you a sense of the exciting and energetic life at this college. But harmonizing with our natural environment doesn’t stop there – even the architecture of OC is designed to look like the rolling drumlins that surround Trent. OC is home to Wenjack Theatre, Trent’s largest lecture hall and peformance space. A thriving neighbourhood right in the heart of campus since 1972.
The colours of the building are derived from the four colours of a medicine wheel: yellow, red, black and white. Gzowski College is integrated with Trent’s First Peoples House of Learning, and named after famed CBC Journalist and broadcaster and Trent’s eighth chancellor, Peter Gzowski. The college offers semiprivate washrooms, lounges, air conditioning, double beds and the popular Robinson dining hall.
