Birthday FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions: May I request a specific party leader? Staff are assigned regular birthday party shifts at specific locations, so we do not accept requests for individual leaders. Is there a limit to the number of people who can attend? 16 children maximum including little ones on the move and the birthday child! (unless otherwise noted). Parents may be in the room to assist young children, but food and party activities are for the party participants only. Can parties be for multiple children at one time? We limit parties to one child (or two children in the same family). How long are the parties? Most parties are 2 hours in length, plus 30 minutes of set-up prior to the start time to prepare for your guests and 15 minutes for cleanup. Can we stay longer than the allotted time? Time extensions and multiple party bookings will not be accepted. What should I bring to the party? Please bring the following items to your party: food, beverages, plates, napkins, cutlery and tablecloths for 6’ rectangle tables (4 recommended) and goody bags (optional). What can I bring to decorate? You are welcome to bring your own party decorations/supplies, but we ask that you use tape only to avoid damage to the walls. Please note that we do not allow helium balloons in any of our facilities.

Additional Questions for Arena and Aquatics Parties Only

Arena Parties Will I receive a phone call from my leader prior to my party date? A leader will contact you up to 48 hours prior to set up a meeting place and answer any questions you may have. Will we have the entire ice sheet to ourselves? Fall & Winter parties – a quarter of the ice will be dedicated to your party during a family skate session. Spring parties – your party will have a private sheet of ice in the curling rink. Do we have to pay for skate and helmet rentals? Skates and helmet rental are included in your party fee. Can the kids wear bike helmets? Bike helmets are not permitted on the ice surface as they do not offer adequate protection. Do we have access to a kitchen? Arena parties do not have access to a fridge or kitchen facilities.

CANCELLATION POLICY: All party cencellations require two weeks notice.

Are there kitchen facilities available? Each of our locations has a fridge available. Party on the Mountain offers access to a stove and oven for reheating. What is the cancellation policy for birthday parties? All parties require two weeks notice to cancel. No refunds will be provided if cancellation occurs within two weeks. Where do I meet my party leader? At the Recreation Complex look for your party signage in the main lobby; it will lead you to the party location. Is the party leader responsible for supervising the children? Yes, the party leader will maintain the active portion of the party. We ask that you assist the party leader during the activities. In the 2nd hour of the party we ask that parents help supervise the children. Can I hire a magician/clown/fairy to entertain at my party? Third party entertainers are not permitted. For parties that offer a craft, can I request a specific craft? Our party leader prepares an age appropriate craft and you may discuss a craft option upon arrival or during set-up time. Will I receive a phone call from my leader prior to my party date? All relevant information is provided at time of registration with pertinent information on your receipt.

Aquatic Parties (July & August) Is there an opportunity to invite more guests than the maximum? An additional lifeguard can be hired in advance, for an extra fee, to increase the number of guests. Do pool parties come with a leader? Pool party leaders are not provided; however, lifeguards will offer some fun games and pool toys/equipment are available. Does the maximum number of participants include guests who are not using the pool? The maximum number includes both pool and poolside guests (everyone inside the gates). What should I bring to the party? You may bring the following items to your party: food, beverages, plates, napkins and cutlery. What is provided in the outdoor pool setting? A pop-up tent, tables and chairs. If public swim starts directly after our party, can we stay? Yes, you may stay free of charge for the public swim. What happens if it’s raining on the day of my party? Pool parties run rain or shine. The water always feels warmer when it’s raining outside! A pop-up tent will be provided. Will I receive a phone call prior to my party date? You will be contacted by aquatic staff to confirm details prior to your party. When should I arrive? You may arrive 15 minutes prior to your party start time for set-up only.

Instructor Profile Jana As a high school Weight Training and PE Teacher, Fitness Instructor, Basketball Coach and mother of two teenage boys, my days are extremely active and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Competing on sports teams was an integral part of my youth so when I stopped playing basketball after university I became a fitness instructor to stay in shape and fill the void. In my first 13 years as an instructor I taught everything from old school high/low aerobics to kickboxing to studio cycling. When I moved to Port Moody 12 years ago, I had an opportunity to join the awesome team of instructors at the newly built Recreation Complex to teach some of my favourite workouts. A decade later I continue to lead spin classes and high intensity boot camps three times per week. In 1992 I attended my first health conference and was given a keychain that said FIT FOR LIFE. Twenty five years later I still have that same keychain and I still feel the same way. As I tell my students “find something active you love and just do it.” As our interests change so will our passion for different things. Don’t be afraid to try a new fitness trend, you never know what you might end up loving.
