Larry Melvin Davis PRINCETON — Larry Melvin Davis, 81, of Princeton, died Saturday, May 2, 2020, at St. Vincent Rehabilitation in Evansville. He was born Nov. 26, 1938, in Princeton and was raised by Kermit Floyd Wildt and Leona (Simmons) Wildt. He served in the United States Navy and worked in the coal mines for a number of years. He married Eva M. (Miller) Davis on Nov. 10, 1997, and she preceded him in death on June 30, 2014. He is survived by his half brothers, Michael
Roy Wildt and Patrick Ray Wildt. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife. Services will be held privately. Donna (Dossett) (Wallace) Grogan VALIER, Ill. — Donna (Dossett) (Wallace) Grogan, 86, of Valier, Illinois passed away peacefully on May 16, 2020, at Stonebridge Nursing Center in Benton, Illinois. She was born in Princeton on Jan. 1, 1932. She was one of two children born to Marlin and Doris (Rumble) Dossett. She graduated from Princeton High School 1951. She worked at the Gibson County Recorders office and Lynn Gas in Princeton before moving to Valier. Donna was preceded in death by her parents. Martin Edwin Kantner Jr. PRINCETON — Martin Edwin Kantner Jr., 73, of Princeton, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020, at his residence. He was born Tuesday, March 18, 1947, in Shellbyville, Illinois to Martin Edwin Kantner and Emily Susan Jenovick Kantner, both whom preceded him in death. Martin worked in the janitorial division at Menards Home Improvement in Princeton. On Nov. 11, 1995, Martin married Sheila Le Anne Scott who survives of Princeton. Dr. Yong Cho SEOUL, South Korea — Dr. Yong Cho died Saturday, April 11, 2020, in Seoul, South Korea from natural causes. He lived in Princeton from 1980 to 2007. Dr. Cho was born in Korea on Nov. 26, 1936. After the Korean War, he attended Seoul National University, College of Medicine, graduating in 1965. Three years later, he immigrated to the United States to further his medical training. After completing a General Practitioner medical residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, he and his young family moved throughout the Midwest, finally settling in Princeton. From 1980 to 2007, Dr. Cho was a doctor at Gibson General Hospital. Dr. Cho practiced general surgery and served as the town physician in many ways during those years. An active servant of his community, Dr. Cho was a member of the Kiwanis and regularly provided pro-bono medical services for the people of Gibson County. During his long medical career, he was a beloved and respected town citizen. A devout Christian, Dr. Cho was instrumental in founding

James D. Rhodes HAUBSTADT — James D. Rhodes, 86, passed away at home on Thursday, April 30, 2020. He was born Dec. 15, 1933, to Thomas and Jeannie Mae (Barr) Rhodes in Reed, Kentucky. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, a member of the American Legion Post 194, the VFW Post 2714 and also a member and bartender at the Knights of St John 345. He was a lifetime member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Haubstadt. James retired from the USDA as a meat inspector in 1994, and enjoyed spending time watching his grandchildren playing sports, gardening, and counting pecans. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth (Ubelacker); children Karen and Mark Schile of Ft Branch, Don and Jane Rhodes of Haubstadt, Lisa and Kelly Christy of Princeton; grandchildren Casey Schile, Christy and Dustin Scheller, Valerie and Travis Zimmer, Jessica and Neil Zimmerman, Jason and Shelby Rhodes, Tori Jacob and Jade Christy, along with seven great-grandchildren; his sisters Rosie Roberts and Martha Kaelin; brothers Martin Rhodes and
Heather A. Koonce; and brother Robert C Holcomb. Her happiest times were spent with family playing games, going to various parks, zoos and theme parks. Her favorite place to visit was Anclote Key near Tarpon Springs, Florida. During the last years she enjoyed sitting on the porch while watching grandchildren play in the yard She was a member of Gospel Assembly Church, a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. She will be remembered for her hard work, sense of humor, caring for her children and the two dollar bills she included in the each card sent to the grandchildren over the years. MOUNT CARMEL — Amelia E. Schuster, 99, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2020, at Linda White Hospice in Evansville, Indiana. She was born Dec. 19, 1920, in Mt. Carmel, the daughter of Joe and Katherine (Otto) Kling. On Oct. 10, 1972, she married Morris W. Schuster in Warrenton. Amelia worked for Snap-On Tools for 20 years and then Hurst Manufacturing in Princeton until she retired. She loved spending time with her family and sitting on her porch taking in the sunshine and visiting with people passing by. Amelia enjoyed being around people and never knew a stranger. Left to cherish Amelia’s memory is her son, Richard J. William Joseph Marshall OAKLAND CITY — William Joseph Marshall, 87, of Oakland City for most of his life, recently of Princeton, died on April 28, 2020. William was born April 21, 1933, to Joseph Rufo Marshall and Dorothy (Bryant) Marshall. During most of his public-school years, he lived with his grandparents, Jesse F. Bryant and Carrie H. Bryant with a lot of help from his aunts, Madge Bryant McAtee and Belle Bryant Colvin. On August 28, 1950, he was the youngest of 10 Oakland City boys that left Evansville on a troop train to Camp Pendleton, California to serve in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Upon release from the Marines Corps, he returned to Oakland City High School for his senior year graduating in 1953. He used the G.I. Bill at Oakland City College and graduated in 1956. Subsequently, he taught at Vincennes Township Junior High School for two years. He had been attending the Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana during the summers and then enrolled full time until graduation in 1960. Upon graduation, the Indiana School of Law employed him as a teaching associate of the 1960-1961 school year. Following that, he entered the private practice of law in Princeton. In 1966, he was elected prosecuting attorney. After his term ended, he returned to the private practice of law until he returned to the prosecuting attorney’s as chief deputy for George Ankenbrand. Roumilda Marie (Allerellie) Pegram PRINCETON — Roumilda Marie (Allerellie) Pegram, 93, of Princeton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 28, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Princeton, on Oct. 23, 1926. She was one of three children born to John and Julianna “Annie” (Liebentritt) Allerellie. Roumilda graduated from Princeton High School in 1944. She married her beloved high school sweetheart, Robert “Bob” Pegram, on June 20, 1946. They have one daughter, Linda (Pegram) Martin. Roumilda worked as a machine operator at Potter and Brumfield for 37 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of Daughters of Isabella. Roumilda lived a full life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. Her grandchildren were an integral part of her life and she adored all of them and their accomplishments throughout life. She earned the name, “Nanny” over 50 years ago by her eldest grandson and was referred to this by many. She was the matriarch of her family and had a spunky personality that influenced those all around her. Nanny created lasting family traditions such as preparing Sunday dinners for her family each week. She enjoyed hosting family holidays throughout her life. She also enjoyed years of dancing with her husband at the Executive Inn, playing cards where she hosted weekly bridge club, crocheting countless afghans, being involved in all of her grandchildren’s activities, and attending Sunday Mass. They moved to Oakland City, where she attended elementary and high school. She married James Price in 1949 and they raised their family in Glezen. UNION, Ind. — Claude White Jr., 86, of Union, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020, at Transcendent Healthcare in Boonville. He was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Montezuma, Georgia to Claude White, Sr. and Maci (Sizemore) White. He worked at Whirlpool in maintenance for 45 years and served as a minister for several years at Mt. Tabor Church. Claude loved being outdoors and hunting, especially for squirrels. He enjoyed being in the country and he was a devout Godly man who influenced the lives of many. He was an authority on the Bible until the very day he left this world.
