The Tanger Outlets Pops Series presents - Some Enchanted Evening: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Rodgers and Hammerstein! Come and enjoy a New Year’s Eve celebration on Saturday, December 31 at 8:00 p.m. at Westover Church, located at 505 Muirs Chapel Road, Greensboro. Ring in the New Year with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Nate Beversluis. Husband and wife Broadway soloists Ron Bohmer and Sandra Joseph will perform popular songs from Cats, Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, Evita, and much more as part of this thrilling tribute to Broadway. Sandra Joseph starred as Christine Daae in The Phantom of the Opera for 10 years and more than 1,500 performances. She still holds the record as the longest-running leading lady in the longest-running Broadway show of all time. Sandra has been featured
on The Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN, The Today Show, The Early Show, Dateline, The View, and more. Ron Bohmer, played the Phantom in the Phantom of the Opera, and has enjoyed a Broadway career spanning over 20 years, including Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard, Enjolras in Les Miserables, the title role in The Scarlet Pimpernel, and countless others. ew York native, Chris Federico, liked the idea of the Indie Flea, a marketplace for artists and artisans to promote and offer up their wares to the general public. She liked it so much she decided to do her own. Chris, who owns Spark Branding, an ad agency, and her husband Jeff, who had his own screen printing business owned a building in downtown Kernersville that they were using for their own businesses. Jeff moved his business to Winston-Salem and that left them with a building to fill. Enter Eclection, the place for the “Indie Flea” that gives the local artisans a place to show off what they do, from art to fashioned furniture to jewelry, clothes and apparel. Chris says that about 95% of the vendors in Eclection are women. Eclection is also a “sip and shop” where shoppers can peruse the vendors’ booths and merchandise while enjoying a glass of wine. Chris calls it, “feel good shopping.” Or, let’s say you’re in the mood for a
little victuals while you’re shopping for that perfect gift. No problem. Eclection has their own chef to make small plates and appetizers to add a little nourishment to your shopping experience. Cheeses, artisan breads, snacks and even quiche. There’s something to tide you over. And, with the holidays coming up, Eclection’s unique shopping experience would make for great gift ideas. This is all on the ground floor. On the second floor is a new adult VIP lounge, targeting the 25-55 year old demographic, which opened on November 2, 2016, called Breathe. Breathe offers a relaxed lounge atmosphere that accommodates friends, first dates, meetings and gatherings. They have a full ABC permit, wines, beer and spirits. Their bar manager, John Vavryshko, formerly of The Marshall Free House, also makes cordials, tinctures and bitters in-house. What many bars and lounges purchase from vendors, Breathe makes on-site. There are over 40 wines and eight beers on tap.

The décor of both Eclection and Breathe Lounge are made up of recycled woods, pallets, windows and doors. Jeff, did the refurbs himself, which he’d never done before this, Chris said. Chris seems to be mindful of these resources that can be repurposed and therefore eliminates waste when it’s not necessary. Also, along these lines, Eclection holds a yearly charity event called “Chairity” in which new chairs are built or old chairs are upcycled and then auctioned off to raise funds for Next Step Ministries, a battered women’s shelter. The upcycled chairs have to be from North Carolina. The event has gone on for the past few years and each year there has been around 35 chairs auctioned, raising approximately $4000 each year. The local businesses get involved, as well. Several of them taking chairs in, displaying them and allowing for the public to vote for their favorite. The upside of this is that not only does it raise money for Next Step Ministries, it also creates shopping traffic and opportunities to the local businesses and economy.
Because Breathe isn’t a restaurant per se, North Carolina law requires private club membership for entry. There is a $5 per year membership but each membership card reads VIP and that’s what you get. Every guest is a VIP, not just those “special” guest. Great seating, great cocktails, great fun. The Eclection is open every day but Sunday. Breathe is open Wednesday & Thursday 5-12am and Friday and Saturday5 - 2am. You’re not getting the raucous crowd, but a fun and sophisticated lounge atmosphere.
