While powerful landing pages will completely lose their utility, the new design is visually engaging, thanks to the new cover photo, profile picture, and the views of the applications. You can now: o Highlight some content of your Facebook Page by pinning some posts, staring others and creating milestones, o Directly curate the content of your Facebook Page with the Activity Log, o Build your audience and answer to private messages send by your Facebook Page's visitors thanks to the new Admin Panel, o And tell your brand's story, by adding key events or modifying old posts with the dates you want. The new Cover Photo is a powerful marketing tool for your Facebook Page, as it is the first thing visitors will see on your Page. It must express your identity in a creative way in order to capture the audience’s attention.
However, you do not have complete freedom with your Cover Photo. Facebook has defined several policies explaining that cover photos must not be false, deceptive or misleading, must not infringe on third parties’ intellectual property, and may not contain: 1. Price or purchase information, such as "40% off" or "Download it at our website" 2. Contact information, such as web address, email, mailing address or other information intended for your Page's About section 3. References to user interface elements, such as “Like” or “Share”, or an arrow pointing from the cover photo to any of these features. 4. Calls to action, such as "Get it now" or "Tell your friends" Besides, the Profile Picture represents your page on other parts of Facebook, including the News Feed. Therefore, we highly recommend that you simply use your company’s logo or an image that people easily associate with your business and identity. At the top of your Timeline page will now appear your Applications. Photos and three other custom tabs that you can choose will be shown directly, while visitors will have to click the dropdown arrow to see the other tabs (limited to 12 applications). Each application can now be customized with images including call-to-action or any type of content that your Cover Photo cannot include.
Also, with Facebook Timeline, you are now able to share your identity by telling your story on your Page. Every post can be dated in the past, and you can decide to highlight them thanks to three new features. 1. Pinned Posts Pinned posts are Page posts that Administrators have chosen to highlight at the top of their Page. A pinned post always appears in the top left of a Page's timeline and has a flag in its top-right corner. A post a Page admin pins to the top of their Page will remain there for 7 days. After that, it’ll return to the date it was posted on the Page’s timeline. Posts from people who like a Page are not eligible to be pinned posts. Page Admins can only pin posts created by the Page.
2. Star Stories Highlight important stories on your Page using the star icon to expand them to widescreen.
3. Milestones Create milestones to define your key moments in your Page’s history. Milestones are automatically expanded to widescreen, are visible to everyone visiting your Page and can include photos.
> FRIEND ACTIVITY When people visit your Facebook Page, they will see stories about how their friends are interacting with it throughout your Page timeline. Friend activity is only visible to people included in the post's audience, and the icon in the upper-right corner distinguishes these posts from posts by the Page.
> MANAGEMENT TOOLS The new Admin Panel appears at the top of your Facebook Page and offers a quick summary of the recent activity of your Page: new likes, notifications, Page insights and messages that you have received. Indeed, pages can now receive messages from fans, but messages cannot be initiated by the page to a fan. This feature can be turned off from the Manage Permissions area of the Admin dashboard.
Under the “Manage� button, you will have access to your Activity Log, where you will be able to view all your Page posts, even the ones you have chosen to hide. You can curate all the content on your Page by hiding, deleting, staring and even changing the dates of a post. Finally, through this Admin Panel, you can also edit your Page, get some valuable help from Facebook, and also build your audience by suggesting your Page to your Facebook friends and email contacts, by sharing your Page link on Profiles, or by creating an Ad for your Page.
> FACEBOOK ADVERTISING Facebook Advertising is now displaying much larger ads and has released two new options for Advertising your Page on Facebook. 1. Reach Generator has been designed to connect to the existing audience and include the page post stories (Always on ad). It shows the ad on the right side of the page, and also in the news feed and mobile streams. 2. Premium was designated to distribute stories to new connections and will be shown in the right side of the home page, in the news feed, in mobile streams and when someone logs out of Facebook. > IN CONCLUSION
