About Matilda’s Planet Some years ago Matilda, Social Entrepreneur David Evans MBE‘s five year old daughter, told him he should take more responsibility for the environment. Her words prompted him to establish Matilda’s Planet.

At Matilda’s Planet we are committed to finding solutions to our energy problems. The company’s values are to be socially responsible, sustainable – and to provide practical solutions to the real problem of keeping your house warm.

We have a solution that’s both practical and socially responsible. We all know that changing the way we consume energy is something we have to do – but actually doing anything about it is a challenge. Matilda’s Planet came from a little girl’s belief that it’s the job of the ‘grown-ups’ to make sure that the legacy we leave for our children is one both we, and they, can be proud of.

Match Report Saturday 16th October 2021 Spartan South Midlands Premier Division Tring Athletic 1-2 Flackwell Heath LATE GOAL NIPS OUR RECENT RUN OF GOOD RESULTS IN THE BUD One aspect of our game this season that has been disappointing has been our tendency to concede early goals so it was encouraging to see us take the early initiative for once. Only 12 minutes had been played when Ollie Butler seized on a defensive mistake and laid the ball off to Chris Blunden who scored a typical poacher’s goal, squeezing a shot past a posse of defenders and just inside the post for his 8th goal of the season. Score 1-0. Hope must have then surged through our supporter’s veins that we would now go on and win the game and continue the recent improvement in our form which has seen us go unbeaten in 4 previous games but it just didn’t happen. We rarely threatened the opposition’s goal thereafter and their keeper Isaac Hays had a relatively easy afternoon although Ollie Butler did produce some exquisite skills around the half hour mark to work himself into some space in the oppositions area and his fierce shot looked goal bound until a defender got his face in the way. It’s probably still stinging. Fortunately, we were defending well with Ben Johnson doing a sterling job on the dangerous and speedy left winger Simeon Weekes who is Flackwell Heaths leading scorer. We should also mention David Saunders whom produced a super diving save to tip a well struck free kick from James Burrell round the post. With 4 minutes to go to the break we looked as if we would keep our noses in front but a momentary lapse in concentration following a free kick deep into our guests half led to Adam Thomas levelling the scores. As we went off for the half time cuppa it was clear that we would have to up our game if we wanted to get something out of it. HT Score 1-1.

Unfortunately, it was more of the same from us after the break and we had to dig in to at least get a point from the game and thanks to some stoic defending we were restricting our guests to few clear chances although we were hardly troubling their back line.

TAFC 1-2 Flackwell Heath With 81 minutes on the clock the visitors finally made a break through with a cool finish from their impressive centre forward Fabian Orifill. Score 1-2. We tried to respond and Tommy Twelves did try luck from the edge of the area but his shot went straight at the keeper for an easy save. We never looked like scoring and Flackwell Heath ran out deserved winners. FT Score 1-2. A disappointing performance and result which could have been a reaction from our hard fought draw at high riding Hadley on Tuesday night but the games are coming thick and fast with no time for moping around. One worrying incident was the sight of Harrison Cornick coming off in the second half to join Cam Brooks and Harry Seabrook on the injury list. With Captain Kieran Turner also unavailable for a few games it means our small squad will be put to the test against Broadfields United at home on Tuesday and then on Saturday when we travel to Ardley United in the FA Vase. Teams: TA: David Saunders, Harrison Cornick (James Ferguson 65), Tommy Twelves (Capt), George Carbery, Frankie Hercules, Ollie Butler, Chris Blunden, Emmanuel Gbejuade (Fraser Bryden 69), Ben Johnson, Evans Lamboh, Scott Bonner. Subs not used: Ali Mohiuddin, Jimmy Doherty. FH: 1 Issac Hays, 2 Tyler Gregory, 3 Ben Fraser (15 Jack Taylor 90), 4 Jamie Essex (Capt), 5 Brandon Eaton 6 James Burrell, 7 Adam Thomas (12 Usman Lalustani 79), 8 Alan Akerman (14 Sam Coles 79), 9 Fabian Oriffill, 10 Jack Shakespeare, 11 Simeon Weekes

Est. 1993 Ground: Tithe Farm Sports & Social Club, HA2 0XH Website: www.broadfieldsunitedfc.co.uk Twitter: @broadfieldsutd Instagram: @broadfieldsutd Facebook: Broadfields United FC 1993: The Club was formed. 1994/1995 season: We ran ten teams, eight in the Southern Olympian League on Saturdays, five of those teams won their leagues with two teams finishing as runners-up. 1995/1996 season: Broadfields 1st team won the Presidents Cup at Harrow Borough. 1996/1997 season: They then went on to win Division One by six points, thus winning promotion to the Premier League. 1998/1999 season: Broadfields United Reserves came runners-up in Division One. 2001/2002 season: Broadfields ran six teams, 1st and Reserves playing in the Middlesex County Football League, Premier and Division One (Saturday’s). Two teams played in the Harrow Sunday Challenge League and one played in the Hillingdon & District Sunday Football League. This was also the season of Broadfields Social Clubs disaster. We burnt to the ground, leaving only the changing/shower facilities. This however did not stop us from playing football, as indeed we did. 2003/2004 season: Broadfields runs less teams, 1st playing in the Middlesex County Football League, Premier Division, Manager: Marvin Hall, Coach: Mike Jennings, Physiotherapy: Mick Croft. Our Vets team played in the London Commercial League, Division 6 and went through to a cup Final. We also had two Sunday teams playing in the Harrow Sunday Challenge League. Chris Webster’s team won the Harrow Sunday Challenge League Cup. 2005/2006 season: Chris Webster’s team won the Harrow Sunday Challenge League and Jack Walker Cup. 2006/2007 season: Chris Webster’s team won the Harrow Sunday Challenge League and Benevolent Shield. 2007/2008 season: Chris Webster’s team were runners up in both the Sunday Premier Cup and Champions Cup. 2008/2009 season: Chris Webster’s team won the Champions Cup and Jack Walker Challenge Cup. They were runners up in the Premier League. 2009/2010 season: Dene Gardner’s (Saturday) team were runners up in the Middlesex Intermediate Cup. Chris Webster’s team won the Middlesex County Premier Cup and Champions Cup. They were runners up in the League and the Harrow Premier Cup. 2010/2011 season: A disappointing season by Broadfields standard. The Sunday team came runners up in the Champions Cup Final, narrowly losing 2-1. 2011/12 season: Alec Smith Premier Cup Champions. Chris Webster and Ryan Duffy lead the Saturday team to their first bit of silverware in many years. 2012/13 season: Alec Smith Premier Cup Champions. Ryan Duffy and Chris Webster defended their title whilst the newly reformed reserves under the management of David Webster and Robbie Pearce who lost in the Junior Open Cup Final and came runners up in the league. A successful season for the club.

Broadfields United 2013/14 season: David Webster and Robbie Pearce proved very successful with the reserves by winning the Middlesex Senior Reserve Division and the Junior Open Cup. A platform for a new challenge next season. 2014/15 season: A terrific end to the season saw Ryan Duffy and Chris Webster lead their side to promotion to the Spartan South Midlands League Division One. The side lost just one of their final ten games and were granted promotion on the final day. The second side, led by David Webster and Robbie Pearce, moved their team to the Hertfordshire County League Division One and managed a mid-table finish and were unlucky to not make a final, being knocked out at the semi-final stage twice. 2015/16 season: The clubs first season in Spartan South Midlands League football saw us achieve an 11th place finish. The side also reached the semi-final of the Division One Cup. The Sunday Side completed a quadruple, winning the Harrow Sunday Challenge Premier Division, the Premier Cup, the Champions Cup and the Jack Walker Cup. 2016/17 season: The First team, under the guidance of Mark Barnham, Liam Bird & Ryan Duffy, won the Middlesex Premier Cup by defeating Hillingdon Borough 4-1 at Northwood FC’s ground. They also reached the second-round proper of the FA Vase. The Reserve side managed by Dean Foster, won promotion to the Herts Senior County League. 2017/18 season: The First team, under the guidance of Liam Bird, Mark Barnham & Ryan Duffy, successfully defended the Middlesex Premier Cup by defeating landlords, Harefield 1-0 at Harrow Borough FC. Success continued 5 days later when they triumphed in the Spartan League Challenge Trophy cup final when they beat Risborough Rangers in the final 3-1.Finally, first time in the club’s history, we booked a place in the FA Cup for the forthcoming season after finishing 4th in the league. The Reserve side managed by Dean Foster also reached the Anagrams Record Trophy Final but went down 2-0 to Catholic United from the Essex League. 2018/19 season: The end of the 2018/19 season saw the first team achieve their main aim as promotion was secured. A tally of 94 points saw us finish behind runaway leaders, Harefield United, but guaranteed us a place as one of the top 9 teams from the 19 leagues at Step 6 and thus achieving promotion to Step 5 for the very first time. It was a long season which saw us play in our first ever FA Cup game, beating Banstead Athletic 3-0 in a memorable Extra Preliminary round tie. Unfortunately, in the next round we went down 4-1 to AFC Uckfield Town but nonetheless it was a great experience for the club to appear in the oldest cup competition in the world. 2019/20 season: The season started full of optimism with the club playing Step 5 football for the first time and although the season started off brightly the team found the step up in opposition quality hard to deal with at times. We managed to find our feet and began picking up some good results along the way before COVID-19 curtailed the season. The highlight of the season was unquestionably a 2-1 victory away at Conference South side, Hampton and Richmond to reach the Semi-Final of the Middlesex Senior Cup in our first season in the competition. Although we were defeated in the next round away at Bedfont Sports. 2020/21: Ahead of the new season the club secured a new groundshare with Rayners Lane FC, a move back closer to the club’s traditional ‘home’ of Harrow. Sadly, it meant departing Harefield United’s Preston Park after many successful seasons.

The midweek action was completed by Flackwell Heath who squeezed past Leverstock Green by a solitary goal in Berkshire. On This Day—19th October 2013 We can expect to receive a cheque through the post after progressing to the Second Round Proper of the FA Vase following this fine win in East London. Vinnie Iannone's poaching skills twice put us ahead with Michael Green adding what turned out to be the winning third goal in this exciting cup tie. This victory over Ilford made it a hat-trick of wins over Essex Senior League Premier Division teams having dispatched Eton Manor and Greenhouse London in the previous rounds. It's a shame we can't play clubs from this league every week! For the second week running we played in a stadium with a running track around the pitch, which creates a strange atmosphere as the spectators are a long way from the action. However, it was more than compensated for by a warm welcome and good hospitality from our hosts. It was a typical cup tie with plenty of goal mouth action and scoring opportunities for both sides during a thrilling first half which ended with us holding a slim 2-1 advantage. After the break we tightened up at the back and after taking a commanding 3-1 lead with less than 20 minutes to go looked well on the way to seeing out the win until we conceded again and our supporters had to endure a nervous final ten minutes. We started on the front foot winning a corner soon after the kick off. The Ilford defence looked vulnerable particularly from set pieces and it was no surprise that all three of our goals came from that source. By the sixth minute we were awarded our third corner and duly took advantage when Graham Hall's precise delivery picked out Michael Green whose powerful goal bound header was turned into the net at close range by the alert Vinnie Iannone. Score 01. It was a great start and perhaps we were still celebrating when the game was restarted because Ilford's leading scorer Eden Nelson found himself free in our area just to the right of the goal and would have equalised had Mike Underwood not produced a great save. This seemed to wake up the home side after a slow start and the little and large combination up front of Nelson and Michael Ogboin started to cause us problems. We were still creating opportunities with Graham Hall having a shot blocked on the edge of the area after nice play by Vinnie Iannone who soon afterwards created some space for himself with a great turn but his shot went straight at the keeper. Ilford had some big players and were a threat from set pieces but we dealt with this potential danger well but at the other end it was a different story. Again we caused problems when the home keeper completely missed a Graham Hall corner and was a tad fortunate that he did enough to distract Michael Green who looked surprised when the ball came off the top of his head. Mid way through the half Ilford turned the screw with Ogboin hitting the post from close range after being set up by Nelson who then did the equivalent of a golf air shot when well placed in front of goal. It was no surprise when Ilford did level the scores a minute past the half hour and whilst it was fully deserved it was steeped in controversy. Mike Underwood felt he was flattened to the floor from behind as he shaped up to deal with a corner and Nelson was able to equalise with the ball bouncing down off the underside of the bar and over the line. Others felt that Unders had been fouled but the Referee disagreed and the goal was allowed to stand. Score 1-1.

Ilford 2-3 TAFC After this set back we showed great resilience and character to bounce back and within five minutes we had retaken the lead. Chris Vardy, who improves with every game, did superbly well to put pressure on the home defenders as they tried to play out from the back and his efforts earned us a corner. The home defence failed to clear Graham Hall's delivery and the ball seemed to ping around the area like a game of head tennis until it was played back into the area where Vinnie Iannone was waiting to plunder his second goal. Score 1-2. With half time approaching Ilford made a push to level matters and Stuart Stedman did superbly well to dash across the area to foil Nelson after he worked himself free in our area. For once we failed to deal with the subsequent corner and we were fortunate that Nelson failed to find the target when the ball reached him at the far post. Nelson then tried his luck from further out and although his shot was powerful it went well over the bar. Soon after the restart Chris Vardy used his trickery to find Vinnie Iannone in the box but he slipped over. Ogboin tested Mike Underwood with a fierce shot and the same player was just unable to control a fine pass from the marauding right back Lindisipho Mtyanda. But after that early burst of activity the game settled down into a cagey affair. Lee Benning, who played with his usual 100% commitment and won his fair share of headers and challenges, was replaced by Matt Myatt and the home side made some changes as well. Vinnie Iannone thought he had secured his 2nd hat-trick of the season with a great volley but he was denied by the offside flag. Neither team were creating many clear chances but in the 71st minute we produced a terrific move culminating in Matt Myatt sliding a lovely defence splitting pass through to Chris Vardy who was denied by the Ilford keeper who made a great save. But any relief enjoyed by the home side disappeared immediately after Michael Green converted the corner from close range after Chris Salmon and Chris Vardy's efforts had been kept out. Score 1-3. With a 2 goal lead we seemed to be in complete control but a momentary lapse in concentration saw us give the ball away sloppily on the half way and Ilford broke away and with us short at the back we couldn't prevent Nelson from grabbing his second of the match to reduce the deficit to one goal. Score 2-3. With 12 minutes plus added time still to go it was squeaky posterior time for our contingent as Ilford had plenty of time to snatch an equaliser and send the game into extra time. Matt Corran was brought on for young George Tomlin and the other change involved Jack Sunderland replacing Chris Vardy. Jack nearly made an immediate impact with a fine run and cross that Vinnie Iannone just failed to reach.

Ilford piled players forward but we were in no mood to let them back into the game and we defended well to book our place in the next round. TA: 1 Mike Underwood 2 George Tomlin (Matt Corran 81) 3 Stuart Stedman 4 Jack Seaton 5 Michael Green 6 Chris Salmon 7 Tony Fields 8 Lee Benning (Matt Myatt 65) 9 Vinnie Iannone 10 Graham Hall (Capt) 11 Chris Vardy (Jack Sunderland 77). Subs not used: Sam Joliffe, Ryan Sturges.

TAFC Reserves

A Taylor Boniface penalty gave the reserves a point against Standon & Puckeridge. The lads were disappointed not to have taken all three when a late goal was disallowed for offside.
