About Matilda’s Planet Some years ago Matilda, Social Entrepreneur David Evans MBE‘s five year old daughter, told him he should take more responsibility for the environment. Her words prompted him to establish Matilda’s Planet.

At Matilda’s Planet we are committed to finding solutions to our energy problems. The company’s values are to be socially responsible, sustainable – and to provide practical solutions to the real problem of keeping your house warm. We have a solution that’s both practical and socially responsible. We all know that changing the way we consume energy is something we

have to do – but actually doing anything about it is a challenge. Matilda’s Planet came from a little girl’s belief that it’s the job of the ‘grown-ups’ to make sure that the legacy we leave for our children is one both we, and they, can be proud of.

Today’s Visitors Risborough Rangers Football Club started in 1970 as a team of 12-year olds who wanted to play competitive football. The main motivators were Life Presidents Tony Elsey and Derek Wallace. Derek was instrumental in forming the Wycombe Star League that now provides football for hundreds of youngsters in the Wycombe area, and Risborough Rangers currently have teams at all ages ranging from the Under 10 to Under 16 playing in this league. In the 1975/76 season, the previous years Under 16's went into the Wycombe & District League as a men's team, and in their second season in adult football won the 3rd Division. Unfortunately, the team then folded, after which the club provided only boy's football until the Under 16's of 1979/80, having won the United-Carr Cup, went into the Reading Youth League for two seasons, and then the Wycombe & District League. They won promotion in successive seasons and were followed two years later by the following years Under 16's as a reserve team, who emulated the feats of their predecessor, ending up in the Ercol Senior League and the FA Walters Premier League consecutively. At around this time, Rangers moved to 'Windsors', their current ground. 'Windsors' had been the home of the now defunct Princes Risborough Town FC who were one of the founder members of the Hellenic league in 1953. Within several years, club members had managed to improve the ground substantially by building the clubhouse. In 1989 Risborough accepted an invitation to join the South Midlands League Division 1. In the first two seasons the club found the level difficult and finished second from the bottom and therefore had to apply for re-election. The 1991/92 season saw a great improvement when Risborough finished in 8th position whilst also celebrating its 21st anniversary. In the 1994/95 season, they were promoted to the newly formed Senior Division, after finishing 4th under the management of Frank Carter and they consolidated with a mid-table position in the next season. In the mid-90s, Bob Rayner became manager for the first time and saw the establishment of a sound youth policy with an Under 18's team in the Wycombe & South Bucks Youth League. After a reasonably successful spell, in which the club reached the semi-final of the Senior Division Cup and the quarter final of the Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy, Bob was offered the job of Brackley Town manager in the Southern league and took the opportunity to test himself at a higher level. After Bob left at the start of the 1998/99 season, former assistant Jon Franklin took over as manager and maintained a consistent level of football at the club. After Jon’s' departure, the club began to struggle and were eventually relegated to Division Two. In 2005, chairman Richard Woodward persuaded Bob Rayner to return to the club following his departure from Thame United. Finishing fourth in his first two seasons back and just missing out on the runners up spot in the final game in the second season, Bob has had to rebuild his side from the Rangers junior ranks. He has patiently waited for his young side to blossom and the patience began to pay off in the 2010/11 season when Rangers achieved a fifth-place finish and reached the semi-final of the Challenge Trophy, losing 2-0 to the eventual winner and Premier Division champions, Chalfont St Peter. On route to the semi-final, Rangers beat four teams from divisions above them including division one champions Berkhamsted Town.

Risborough Rangers The 2011/12 season was Risborough's best season of late with a late charge securing runners up spot in the league, and a first cup final reached in over 20 years, losing the Anagram Records Trophy final 1-0 to Baldock Town of the Hertfordshire County Senior League. The next season brought two good cup runs. Risborough's progress in the Anagram Record's Trophy was halted in the Semi Final by Baldock Town. The rematch of the previous season’s final ended up with the same score line as Baldock went on to defend the trophy. A second cup final in two years was achieved via the Division 2 cup, although the prospect of lifting the cup once again alluded Rangers, this time losing 2 nil to Aston Clinton. A league finish of fourth was achieved, and with the hard work off the pitch, including securing the funding for floodlights which were erected in time for the 2012/13 season. In 2016 Risborough finally won some silverware, after several near misses over the last few years. The Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup was claimed after a 2-1 AET win over United Counties League Olney Town. 2016/17 season saw Bob Rayner retire and his son Jamie take charge saw the club finish in a creditable 6th position and reach the semi-finals of the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup before losing on penalties to eventual winners Woodley United. The 2017/8 season started with some promise but sadly this didn’t last with the club finishing in 8th place, the highlight of the campaign, however, was a run in the Challenge Trophy which included victories over Premier Division sides Leighton Town, Oxhey Jets, Edgware Town and London Colney, but alas were beaten 3-1 in the Final by fellow Division One side Broadfields United at Colney Heath. In October 2018 then current manager Jamie Rayner decided to step down from his position because of work commitments. The Club advertised the position and after a healthy response, the Board appointed the former Hemel Hempstead Town, Arlesey Town, Leighton Town Aylesbury United, Aylesbury FC boss Mark Eaton as their new man. When Eaton took over the club were 19th in Division One and a massive negative goal difference but come the end of the season Rangers finished in 7th spot with a positive goal difference as the season was turn on it’s head. The season ended though with some silverware when London Lions were defeated 2-0 in the final of the Spartan South Midlands League Division One Cup, which was played at Leverstock Green. Because of the ongoing re-construction of the non-league system the club made a lateral movement to the Hellenic League Division One East from the Spartan for the start of the 2019/20 season. The 2019/20 season saw Rangers unbeaten and top the league by 12 points with a game in hand over 2nd place Abingdon United after playing 23 games out of the full 32. The COVID pandemic put an end to any hopes of promotion to step 5 for the first time in the clubs history however as the season was officially voided. However, in 2021 the club were promoted to the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League based on their results in the abandoned 2019–20 and 2020

DIVISION ONE Stotfold claimed the Division One title in front of a crowd of 482 on Tuesday night when they defeated local rivals Shefford Town & Campton 3-0, the result leaves the visitors still looking for the three points to clinch a play-off spot. Winslow United, already assured of a play-off spot, won 2-0 at Langford on Wednesday evening thanks to a goal in each half. DIVISION ONE CUP Quarter Final Stotfold, missing several first team players who were attending a wedding, squeezed into the Division One Cup semi-finals with a 3-2 win at Wellingborough Whitworth on Thursday night to set up a home tie with Winslow United as they remain on course for a quadruple of trophies. DIVISION TWO Aston Clinton climbed to third place in the Division Two standings with an impressive 7-2 win at home against neighbours Tring Corinthians AFC thanks to a five goal haul from Ryan MacDonald, with games against Old Bradwell United and Bovingdon to come this month it makes for an interesting race for the title. Eynesbury United’s hopes of promotion took a blow on Thursday night, 3-1 up at the break they allowed their hosts, struggling Buckingham United, off the hook and were beaten by the odd goal in seven. For Buckingham it was their first win since the end of January.

On This Day— 19 April 2014 After a run of disappointing results we bounced back with an excellent win over local rivals Berkhamsted to show that when we put our minds to it we can compete with the best in the league. Our lack of consistency must give Julian and Ian a few grey hairs but they will have no complaints about the attitude and grit showed by the players against a side vying for a 3rd placed finish in the league who had banged in 20 goals in their 4 previous games. It was our last home game of the season but it was our guests who got off to a flying start winning 2 corners within the first few seconds. Fortunately Luke Midwinter confidently claimed the second one to steady any early nerves. It was good to have Greg Deer back in the side from university and his combativeness and skill played a major part in our performance. In the 8th minute Greg produced a great cross from the bye line whilst being closely marked and although Chris Vardy did well to get his head to the ball he couldn't direct it on target. But never-the-less it was a good response to the confident opening by the Comrades. Some nice one touch football by the visitors opened up our defence and from the inside right channel Jamie Gavin fired a shot just wide of the far post. We responded with a well worked Graham Hall free kick which gave Chris Salmon a sight of goal but keeper Carl Tasker was able to save at the near post. A crucial intervention by Ollie Butler prevented a teasing cross from Josh Chamberlain from causing problems then Ollie showed he can attack as well as defend as he sauntered forward, seamlessly drifting through the opposition ranks before producing a fierce shot that may have stung the keeper's midriff. Lee Benning sent Reon Thomas away down the right with a great pass but the cross from the bye line was claimed by the keeper. A corner was tipped away by Luke Midwinter then a shot was cleared off the line before the Assistant Referee's flagged for offside to save our bacon. We were playing well but we got a shock to the system when the visitors took the lead in the 24th minute. Frankie Jowle showed his experience to get in front of his marker as a cross came in then he intelligently laid the ball off to Jordon Frederick who calmly placed his shot inside the far post. It was a well taken goal and the Comrades had drawn first blood. Score 0-1.

TAFC 4-2 Berkhamsted Our form has been at best indifferent lately but we were certainly up for this game and we showed a lot of character to come back from this disappointment and within six minutes we levelled the scores. Following a good move involving Ryan Sturges the ball fell to Chris Vardy on the edge of the area and he struck a great shot that flew into the net past keeper Carl Tasker. It clearly took a deflection but nothing should detract from the quality of the strike. Score 1-1. We ended the half strongly and Carl Tasker was fortunate when he dropped a corner on Taylor Collins, who was facing away from the goal and the ball was scrambled clear. Then Graham Hall released Reon Thomas with a fine pass and Reon did well to play it onto Greg Deer whose cross was scruffily scrambled away for a corner by the opposition defence at the near post. The game had flowed nicely from end to end during the first half with little to suggest there was a difference of 7 places between our league positions. Both sides had their opportunities but there were no more goals before the break and the game was finely balanced at 1-1 as the teams went in for their cuppas. Half Time:

It was our turn to start the half strongly, winning a corner within 30 seconds of the restart. Nothing came from that set piece but we did grab and early advantage by taking the lead in the 51st minute. Taylor Collins started the move by sending Chris Vardy away down the left and his cross was converted by Greg Deer despite the close attention of a defender. Score 2-1. But again the lead was short lived, just 5 minutes to be precise, after we conceded a free kick in a dangerous position on the edge of our box. The kick was only partially cleared and was played into our area where Josh Chamberlain was ready to pounce and score from close range. Score 2-2. We had to readjust after captain and midfield inspiration Graham Hall went off injured with Sam Joliffe stepping into his shoes. Later we made another change with Stewart King coming on for Taylor Collins who had acquitted himself well against a tough side. The visitors sensed that the balance of the game had swung their way and they looked dangerous going forward. Josh Chamberlain was unlucky when his shot hit the bar and then he saw his header go just wide of the post from a Frankie Jowle cross as our opponents went in search of a killer third goal.

TAFC 4-2 Berkhamsted There were 2 worrying incidents where players clashed heads but fortunately 3 of the players played on after some treatment with only Ed Canham going off. He looked like he had been in a war with his head heavily bandaged but he said he was okay and we wish him a speedy recovery. These incidents were not the result of dirty play, far from it, by and large the game was played in a good spirit but it was competitive, which is what you would expect of a local derby. But again we showed commendable spirit to withstand our opponents attacks and then have the attacking intent ourselves to take the initiative in the 78th minute with a nicely taken goal by Chris Vardy who cut in from the left and fired in a shot that deceived Carl Tasker who misjudged the bounce of the ball. It was his 11th goal of the season and it put us back into the lead again. Score 3-2. The visitors had to regroup again and their dangerous young forward Josh Chamberlain was not too far away with a good effort. But 2 minutes from the end we put the game to bed with a exquisite goal. In the build up Greg Deer had a great shot repelled by a good save from Carl Tasker but we managed to retrieve the ball and recycle it to Ryan Sturges about 25 yards from goal. In nearly 41 games Ryan had only found the net once and that was back in September but he chose a great moment to unleash a swerving shot that gave the keeper no chance. It was a goal worthy of settling any match and there was no way back for the visitors. Full Time:
