Chairmans Message Howard’s Way The Chairman Reflects Generating revenue through sponsorship is vital at our level. At the top of the professional Game there is heavy dependent on a TV Revenue is this good for the Game long term. At many Clubs TV revenue is the main aspect of their revenue. In business, dependence on one income steam would be a recipe for disaster. This season, the Club engaged Consulmax to improve our sponsorship opportunities. Paul Randell, it’s Principal has worked hard to maximise opportunities. The Home Office has become our First Team sponsor with a four year commitment; Nicky Petrou who owns NP Electrics and Testing have continued to support our Reserve team and Machins Solicitors have come in to support our Under 18 teams. Nicky also provides excellent hands-on support, which was evident when he came to the rescue to repair our floodlights when they failed. Long term supporter, Greenfleets have stayed involved in sponsoring our A team and match day team sheet. We are eternally grateful to all our sponsors, without whose support, the Club would be in a weaker position. Paul has built up a database of 200 local companies and he and I attend regularly, the Tring Together breakfast meetings to maintain the Club’s profile. We have an on line programme, averaging 140 regular viewers and the new website once launched will offer items in an on line shop. Volunteers are also “sponsors” of a different type. They offer time and commitment, which is impossible on which to place a cost, but they deserve our thanks. I have discussed with Mick Eldridge, the idea of organising a “President’s Lunch” before home matches on perhaps, a monthly basis. This will provide a sponsorship opportunity, so watch this space!

Match Report Sat 4th January 2020 Spartan South Midlands Premier Division
MATCH REPORT TRING ATHLETIC F C 0 V EDGWARE TOWN F C 0 - 4th January 2020 WE FALTER IN THE TITLE CHASE We went in to this match full of confidence, with a 5 match winning sequence and the prospect of a winnable fixture against mid-table Edgware Town. But it was not to be as this game proved what a competitive league this is as Edgware were full value for their point and, possibly, had just cause to believe they deserved all three. They were resilient, determined and showed attacking intent. Their four bookings indicated a ruthlessness in pursuit of their aim.
We welcomed two debutants Aaron Jewell who looks to be a rock-solid, tough left footed defender who will add value to our squad and young Donell Tyrell Arnold, on loan from Colchester United, who came on for a cameo 20 minute appearance, showing some nice touches and some silky skills. Good chances in the first half fell to Luke Dunstan and to Marcus Mealing but they failed to test the keeper. In fact, the only time the custodian was truly stretched in the entire 90 minutes was when he pushed over a trade-mark Max Mitchell free kick late in the game.
By contrast, Charlie Mann was much busier and had to be on top of his game to keep yet another clean sheet the fourth in a row. Just once was he beaten, and then the cross bar saved us. Also, we had to be thankful for a last-ditch Tommy Fletcher tackle which prevented an almost certain goal for Edgware. So disappointment at the result was increased upon hearing that Colney Heath had scarped through in their match v Harpenden with a Jon Clements (who else?) goal. This was our first draw of the season. We know there are twists and turns yet to come in our pursuit of Colney although we have cup action to think about on Tuesday as we host Glenn Sports welcoming back Sam Jolliffe and Chris Read in the St Marys Cup.
