Tring Athletic v Leverstock Green 3.00pm - Saturday 8th February 2020 Spartan South Midlands Premier Division
Club Statement Club reclaimed for local community. Several measures have been taken to reclaim our football club to it's original identity. This includes removing several individuals from the club who were instigating a hostile take over bid with the aim of removing the current committee who have built the club from a shed in Miswell Lane to the facilities we now have and own. In recent times, we acknowledge the club has moved away from our aims of providing football for local players who supporters could identify with. The club has pledged to correct this misdirection. This will allow local players the opportunity to play at the level they are capable of within the financial means of the club. We hope this will encourage more local support from spectators and businesses. We would like to express our thanks to the Management team and players who have achieved the goal set them when joining the club and wish them all the best going forward. We would also like to thank all of our friends in the football community for their offers of help. There will be some disruption over the remainder of the season but we are sure these changes will be justified in the long term future of the club.
Match Report Tuesday 28 January 2020 Herts Charity Shield THE FOLLOWING REPORT HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM COLNEY HEATH'S WEBSITE CHFC First Team 3 - 2 Tring Athletic
Well what a semi-final this turned out to be as the Magpies hit back from being 2-0 down to win the match 3-2 with Jon Clements bagging all of our goals and so the holders of the Herts Charity Shield move into their 3rd final on the trot. So it was an exciting match to watch with thrills and spills for both teams, 3 penalties, 2 red cards and a few yellows plus a disallowed goal as well and the shout for the Magpies at the moment is one for Clemo, 2 for Clemo and 3 for Clemo so how many more was the prolific goal scorer going to get this season as he took his tally to 32. Watch this space I say! Early into the game Andy Sears-Black nearly open the scoring for Colney Heath as he hit a searing cross-field shot from the left that whizzing past Charlie Mann's left hand post with him thinking thank goodness for that as just watched the ball fly past him. Both sides continued to press each other but they found either teams defence not giving way until the 21st minute when Marcus Mealing was bundled off the ball by Danny May and so Tring were awarded a penalty. Marcus MEALING took the resulting spot himself and sent the ball straight down the middle sending Connor Sansom the wrong way to give Tring Athletic a 1-0 lead. The Magpies tried to hit back and Andy Sears-Black went close with a header following a corner from Danny May and then Colney Heath thought they had scored an equalizer when a Chris Griffin header had come back off the crossbar and Andy Sears-Black racing in headed the ball into the back of the net, but the flag had gone up for offside and Griffin was the culprit! Jon Clements, Spencer Clarke-Mardel and Callum Dudrenec all had shots blocked before the break and that is how the score remained at half time 1-0 to Tring. After a bit of early pressure by the Magpies the game then saw Tring take a 2-0 lead when Marcus Mealing sped away down the left wing and crossed the ball low into the Magpies box whereupon Alie BANGURA swept the ball low past Sansom giving him no chance to make a save. Score 0-2. Oh dear what could the Magpies do now, well on 50 minutes Jon Clements made great run into the box whereupon Aaron Jewell brought him down and it was the turn of Colney Heath to be awarded a penalty. Up stepped JON CLEMENTS himself and duly dispatched the ball into the bottom right corner to make it 2-1 and so game on now. Well on 62 minutes the Magpies won another penalty when Charlie Mann beat away a cracking shot from Jon Clements and as Spencer Clarke-Mardel chased the loose ball he was instantly taken out by Charlie Mann and so another spot kick was awarded. Again, JON CLEMENTS took the penalty and without ado he buried the ball into the far corner with Mann diving the wrong way to make the score now 2-2. Now there was really a game on and so the Tring defence were looking all shaky at the back when following a highball forward from Sansom saw the centre half's get in each other's way and the ball dropped kindly for JON CLEMENTS who sidestepped another defender to create space for him to send a sizzling low drive into the far corner beating Mann easily and in doing so saw him complete his hat-trick and give the Magpies a 3-2 lead. Later in the game Marcus Mealing took out Dominic Knaggs which resulted in a lot of pushing and shoving and when order was restored, we saw Mulik Rickman for Tring and Yasin Boodhoo for Colney Heath both sent off. Jon Clements had two more fine strikes pushed around the post by Charlie Mann with Sears-Black having a firm saved as the Magpies looked for more goals to put the game to bed but a 3-2 victory was enough and on to the final for the 3rd season in a row.

Newport Pagnell Town FC - HISTORY
Leverstock Green FC Leverstock Green Football Club was formed around 1895. The first match reports appeared on January 4th 1896 in the Advertiser and gave an account of a match against Hemel Hempstead Rovers. The Club ground in Pancake Lane originally formed part of the Gorhambury Estate, Lord Verulam making the ground available for the youth of the area and his estate workers to enjoy a game of ball. Clearly Lord Verulam was an early enthusiast, providing timber-built changing rooms, which have been progressively replaced since the 1960s by the existing brick built clubhouse and changing rooms.
By the mid 1970s the Club started to move forward with a new clubhouse, post & rail and the installation of training lights. The playing side of the club also improved and in 1979 the club won Division One of the Herts County League and were promoted to the Premier Division – the highest standard the Club had achieved in 80 years. Finally silverware came our way at the Herts County Ground when we beat London Colney 2-0 in the Herts Charity Shield. The Reserves finished in 12th position in the Suburban League North Division and the Under 18 floodlit team came runners-up in their Southern Counties League Delphian Division. Season 2013-2014 proved difficult, as having won the first league game the next thirteen were defeats. A rare win in the Premier Division Cup, then defeats in seven out of the next eight league games prompted a change of manager. In came the ex-Rayners Lane manager Dene Gardner who saved the club from relegation and reached the final of the St Mary’s Cup where we were runners up losing by three goals to two to Oxhey Jets. Another milestone was reached as Bill Dawes was recognised by the Football Association and The Hertfordshire Football Association with awards for “50 years service to football”
Our last word goes to a club stalwart Jim Matthews Macca as he was affectionately known, who sadly passed away, July 2006 at 90 years of age. His dedication to the club was recognised by the Football Association and The Hertfordshire Football Association by awards for 50 Years Service to Football
