A Night To Shine
After being established three years ago, A Night to Shine has fast become a highlight on the Trinity calendar. Held in honour of the women who have raised them, A Night to Shine gives our Year 9 boys the opportunity to demonstrate their appreciation and respect for the most important and influential women in their lives.
Held at Optus Stadium, this special event is the culmination of the Year 9s learnings from the Becoming Men Program – a program that supports the boys on their individual journey to becoming a responsible, compassionate, and meaningful member of the community.
Throughout the term, students examine topics that are relevant to young people in contemporary society such as issues around gender and stereotyping, representations of sexuality and gender in the media, the importance of engaging body language, and creating a good first impression. The program is also designed to foster a wide range of socialisation skills and, as such, students had weekly ballroom dancing lessons with students from Mercedes College, as well as a series of etiquette classes that were all showcased by the boys’ at the event.
