CHAIR'S WELCOME

Welcome to the Society of the Year Awards 2023

Welcome to the CSC Ball & Society of the Year awards! It’s truly been an amazing year for society life in college as we have all witnessed it come back better than ever after the pandemic. This is of course thanks to all of the hours of work and dedication put in by each and every committee member of every society here tonight. From the smallest to the largest, each society has impacted the college experience of numerous students and tonight is about recognising and celebrating that impact.

Tonight we have awards ranging from best society to best poster and regardless of the results of each of these awards it is important to remember that the standard set by society life in Trinity is second to none. Whether or not your society wins tonight, it is important that everyone recognises and is proud of what you ’ ve achieved and that often the work you are voluntarily doing is comparable to professional standards.

It has been an immense privilege for me to work with so many of you throughout the year and support society life in whatever way I could It would be remiss of me not to recognise and thank the work that has been put in by every other member of the CSC. To the staff - Emma, Lucy, and Joseph - for the amazing work they put in day in and day out for anyone who walks through our doors, to my fellow officersDaniela, Sam, Dan, and Ronan - for all of the support, guidance and work they have displayed in stepping up and taking on so many new challenges this year, and to the CSC Exec - Owen, Faye, Eyman, Ciarán, Jack, Emmet, Caoilinn, and William whom the CSC would simply stop working without. It really has been an amazing team this year and I’m extremely grateful to have been a part of it.

Everyone enjoy your night, grab a drink, and I’ll see you all on the dance floor!
