Welcome
The Rev. Dr. Lisa Tucker-Gray
Opening Song
There is a Wideness in God’s Mercy
F. Faber, L. Tourjee
(Grace Hirt, Jobst Choral Scholar)
There’s a wideness in God’s mercy, Like the wideness of the sea; There’s a kindness in His justice, Which is more than liberty.
There is grace enough for thousands Of new worlds as great as this; There is room for fresh creations In that upper home of bliss.
There is no place where earth’s sorrows Are more felt than up in Heaven; There is no place where earth’s failings Have such kindly judgment given.
For the love of God is broader Than the measure of our mind; And the heart of the Eternal Is most wonderfully kind.
Opening Collect
Come, Great Spirit!
Voice over by Chelsie Cree (written by Chris Neufeld-erdman, The Work of The People)

Celebrant:
The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray.
Holy Spirit, Presence of God Holy Breath Life Divine! Holy Wind Mover and Shaker! We throw open our hearts before you; We cast down every barrier to your freedom: We yield to your boundless nature; we welcome your wildness. Too long have we tried to tame the wind; too long have we sought to control what’s wild; too long have we stood in domination over the Earth.
At this moment of Earth’s great groaning, yearning, as if in labor, to birth what’s holy and enduring, come, breathe, blow, move upon us all – that Earth and all that’s in it may thrive; that Earth and all that’s in it may love; that Earth and all that’s in it may live. In the harmony and wholeness you desire for us and all creation! Come great spirit! Breath, blow. Move upon us! Here! Now! Come, great spirit! Here now! May it be so! 2
FIRST Reading
Isaiah 56: 1, 6-8
Reader:
Read by Grant Jones
A reading from Isaiah
Thus says the Lord: Maintain justice, and do what is right, for soon my salvation will come, and my deliverance be revealed. And the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord, to minister to him, to love the name of the Lord, and to be his servants, all who keep the sabbath, and do not profane it, and hold fast my covenant-- these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples. Thus says the Lord God, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, I will gather others to them besides those already gathered.

Behold, how good and pleasant it / is when brothers and sisters dwell in / unity! It is like vistas seen from atop a mountain one has / climbed Or like the stillness of a sunset after a long day’s / work. REFRAIN

SECOND READING Reader:
Romans 11: 1-2a, 29-32 Read by Bettye Jo Hansbarger
A reading from Romans
I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin. God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. Just as you were once disobedient to God but have now received mercy because of their disobedience, so they have now been disobedient 3
in order that, by the mercy shown to you, they too may now receive mercy. For God has imprisoned all in disobedience so that he may be merciful to all.

THE GOSPEL
Matthew 15: 21-28
Celebrant:
The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to Matthew Glory to you, Lord Christ.
People:
Jesus left that place and went away to the district of Tyre and Sidon. Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon.” But he did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, “Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” He answered, “It is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed instantly.

Karen Johnson-Webb, Trinity Member
An Affirmation of Faith
Led by Joan Fothergill From Shore to Shore
Please join the leader in sharing the words of this Affirmation of Faith We believe in God, the creator of all life and beauty, who blesses our journey. We believe in Jesus Christ, who lived as a friend and savior to all he met as he traveled, And who ate and laughed, wept and celebrated with them in love. 4
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who rides on the gentle breeze, who strengthens our bindings, and who offers hope eternal. We believe in the church, Which stands open to all travelers, And bears witness to the everlasting love of God. Amen.
Prayers of the People & Confession of Sin
Led by Gary Franklin from the Iona Community
Please join the leader in sharing the responses in bold.
One:
Let us pray. Gracious God, early in the morning, when the world was young, you made life in all its beauty and terror, you gave birth to all that we know. ALL: Hallowed be your name. One:
Early in the morning, when the world least expected it, a newborn child crying in a cradle announced that you had come among us, that you were one of us. ALL: Hallowed be your name. One:
Early in the morning, surrounded by respectable liars, religious leaders, anxious and silent friends, you accepted the penalty for doing good, for being God: you shouldered and suffered the cross. ALL: Hallowed be your name. One:
Early in the morning, a voice in a guarded graveyard and footsteps in the dew proved that you had risen, that you had come back to those and for those who had forgotten, denied and destroyed you. ALL: Hallowed be your name. One:
Early in the morning, in the multicolored company of your Church on earth and in heaven we celebrate your creation, your life, your death and resurrection, your interest in us: So to you we pray‌
ALL: God, bring new life where we are worn and tired, new love where we have turned hard-hearted, forgiveness where we feel hurt and where we have been wounded, and the joy and freedom in your Holy Spirit where we are the prisoners of ourselves. (pause for silence) One:
To all and to each where regret is real, 5
God pronounces pardon and grants us the right to begin again. ALL: Thanks be to God. AMEN.
The Peace Celebrant: People:
The Peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you.

Lord’s Prayer The congregation is invited to join.
Led by Hugh Grefe
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Blessing
May the rain fall off your shoulders when you’re caught in a storm. When the frost comes a callin’ may it find you safe and warm. May your place be set, and may your promises be kept. And may you never forget that you are loved.

Draw the Circle Wide
Mark A. Miller
(Jobst Choral Scholars) Draw the circle, draw the circle wide. Draw the circle, draw the circle wide. No one stands alone, we'll stand side by side. Draw the circle, draw the circle wide (repeat). Draw the circle wide, draw it wider still. Let this be our song, no one stands alone. Standing side by side. Draw the circle, draw the circle wide (repeat). Draw the circle, draw the circle wide. Draw the circle, draw the circle wide. No one stands alone, we'll stand side by side. Draw the circle, draw the circle wide. Draw the circle wide, draw it wider still. Let this be our song, no one stands alone. Standing side by side. Draw the circle, draw the circle wide (repeat as desired).
