Projects by Cause, where social concern meets our love for architecture. We believe in bridging the gaps between people and architecture, to ensure our passion for design derived from them, and the cause they represent. When architecture becomes a language to address cause, these gaps are minimised and what remains, are examples of design that strives to be impactful.

Little Drops Project
Where old age embraces serenity
The concept supporting this project was formulated on an attempt to create a sense of belonging to the inhabitants, a place where they can live in familiarity with one another, a sanctuary. Courtyards are the major design feature of this home and they act as buffer spaces that separate the corridors from the peaceful resting spaces. The zoning is done in such a way that the doctors, staff and the residents are exposed to greenery and pause points wherever they are. Major circulation corridors are also designed in such a way that they are perpendicular to a courtyard on one or either side, thus signifying simple wayďŹ nding.

Nursing spaces
The existing areas marked for staircase in the plan, was realized to become buffer spaces or ante spaces which become social spaces for kids during recess times. The design breaks free of the typical rigid composition of a school through the use of Jaalis and the achievement of height differences in upper level corridors that bring in daylight and ventilation, thus making it a breathing structure in a rigid urban mesh.
Government School, Tamilnadu
Defining a model change for government schools across the state
A project of its own challenge and uniqueness that prompted us to shape the very deďŹ nition of a government school. The main focus was to sculpt the school from an existing plan and dimension into a vibrant zone of learning, a place where kids can ďŹ nally feel that the school, is, indeed built for them.

Stack it Up!!
Stack it Up
Voice to the stifling of a child’s dreams under our present education system
‘Stack it Up’ was an installation done in collaboration with architectureRed in commemoration of the Child in You , addressing one of the major social concerns, every child's Right to Education. Designed as a temporary installation along the longest natural urban beach in the country, the Marina beach, it was conceptualized as a cuboidal space meant to be physically experienced to embrace every child's creativity and fascination, and to kindle the curious child that lurks in all of the viewers. It was brought to construction using school benches and strongly suggested the need for every child to have basic access to education. Stack it up became an example for the idea of Urban Art that were more meaningful in public spaces.
In collaboration with
Pondicherry Smart City The city of Pondicherry is known for its rich culture and heritage, and has a number of tourists that visit it due to its close proximity to major urban hubs such as Chennai and Bangalore. Boulevard area and its surroundings were identified as the Area Based Development (ABD) area, that constitutes a third of the city’s area. Proposals based on social engagement and recreation, adaptive reuse, urban renewal, pedestrianization, rejuvenation of water bodies and parking were formulated to envision the future development of Pondicherry city.
Urban Entertainment village at Old Port The Old Port is envisioned as an Urban Entertainment Village, that caters to the people of the city. It includes Play Areas, Display Boards etc. Parking is also proposed to decongest traffic in the surrounding area. Adaptive Reuse: The Warehouses are reused as a temporary activity space, a resto-bar and a kid’s play area.
Art and Culture complex at Old distillery The Distillery, is envisioned as an Urban Art and Culture Complex that can showcase the Heritage of Pondicherry at the start of the Promenade. The Distillery boasts of an unrestricted view of the promenade and the beach, further emphasized by a viewing tower that can be publicly accessible. The Distillery also acts as a parking area in order to decongest the promenade and the surrounding areas.
Swadeshi Mill Complex The Swadeshi Mill Complex is designed to host the Government buildings that have been moved from the French Quarter. In addition, the mills can add economic value in the form of retail or commercial space. This project is an example of Adaptive Reuse in a context that is rich in historical, cultural and social fabric.
Reconfigure
Configuring housing one square foot at a time
In a country like India, one of the major issues that fall under the looking glass at large, is housing. Although, most arguments would point to the unavailability of a suitable site, the fact lies majorly in the lack of versatility in the design of housing. Reconfigure attempts to address the issue by the design of housing modules that are DIY (Do it Yourself) and can be “Configured” with respect to the user’s design opinions and options. They are built using Prefab modules made of Air Crete blocks. The columns and beams are done using precast concrete.
Such housing modules are versatile on any site, context and are perfectly scalable depending on the need of the user without the usage of any heavy machinery upon reconfiguration and can be repeated any number of times. Before

The Vohrawaads of Sidhpur - Heritage documentation Sidhpur is a small town in Gujarat with a rich heritage and distinctive vernacular architecture. This documentation brought to life, the architectural style, traditional habitats and domestic spaces of a comparatively lesser-known islamic community, the Dawoodi Bohras. Their complex cultural influences were reflected in their architectural amalgamation of European and Middle Eastern Influences, built by Indian craftsmen for this unique community
Houses of Mylapore An initiative to observe the architectural history of the area, recognise the conservation efforts of the residents and strike up a conversation about the signiďŹ cance of culture and heritage. The spaces we create and live in, serve as a background to our lives. As a result, they reect the characteristics of different ways of ife over time. We hope to gather the lived histories of the people and locate them in the context of an evolving Mylapore as tradition interacts with modernity. We have been conducting heritage walks led by the members of our team.
The Vanishing Heritage project In the face of large-scale redevelopment and the conspicuous absence of a Heritage Act, the architectural identity of the city faces imminent and irreversible erasure. While change is inevitable, it must be premised on not just the circumstances of the ‘present’, but on the continuity of context that histories provide. It is in acknowledgement of this most pressing need, that the Vanishing Heritage Project was conceived. It is the endeavor of this Project to document current status of ‘heritage structures’, map their histories and superimpose them to create palimpsest of the architectural legacy of the city. The project specifically targets the neighborhoods of Mylapore and Royapettah, for their historical worth the localities predate the city of Chennai itself) and their extant but dwindling heritage treasures.
Projects by Recognition, where every project goes beyond their very threshold to become valued assets of the community People can have more than they think if architecture becomes a language that strives to minimize the gap between the design and the user. It unifies creates a sense of community and belonging. It is recognized for what it does apart from what it is. From competitions to concepts on paper and live projects, our practice transcends design to be, become and enable; in this process we have created spaces and environments that have won numerous awards and accolades with time.

Namma Toilet Namma Toilet was a public conscious project that focused on “Toilets for All” an initiative introduced by the Government of Tamilnadu. Upon teaming up with a number of Product designers, Graphic designers, Fabricators and Sanitation specialists and after a year of prior research on the subject, we commenced the project. We came up with the concept of Prefab toilet stalls that could be scalable depending on the profile of the users in the social mesh. With minimal design and maximum efficiency in its working, Namma Toilet transitioned from a paper-pen sketch to a built idea that exhibited itself as an example of a better public toilet design. Namma Toilet was selected as National Best Practices by Urban Ministry Government of India and was showcased at the launch of AMRUT, Smart Cities Mission at New Delhi.
Yahvi Residence Located in a site surrounded by three existing built forms, the design for the residence demanded open spaces to facilitate daylight and ventilation. Spaces in the ground oor are planned in such a way that they embrace the fully landscaped green spaces and respond to a central courtyard. Cross ventilation is achieved in every space, thus resulting in a serene and comfortable environment. Featured in The Merit List 2018-2019
Connect’kiev’ity The best way to preserve and develop the Kiev Islands in keeping with the aim of the project would be to improve the way people access the islands. Being sensitive to the existing conditions, the proposal is not to build new bridges, but to enhance the existing ones; make them more comfortable for all means of transport but more importantly for the pedestrians, cyclists and public transit users.
Architectural splines that connect existing program with new support program are placed at strategic denser zones within the islands. The form mimics the existing topographical, green cover of the site and its main purpose is to encourage movement and activity, serve to create usable spaces all year through, cocoon and deďŹ ne existing program. The support splines so designed act as hubs for water harvesting, waste treatment system and recycling the area they cater to. This proposal, at a micro scale helps to maintain the islands and keep them pollution free. Featured project on Archdaily

The proposal looks into the aspect of shifting the focus of the street from the carriageway to the sidewalks in a way that encompasses safety, functionality backed by strong aesthetics. The design looks into various street/urban elements using bamboo that results in a cohesive, aesthetic and ergonomically designed streetscape that brings about a sense of Urban Renewal in the long run. By combining urban furniture with the usage of sustainable materials like bamboo, Shift Focus aims to bring about a revolution in safety, security and eco sensitivity at the urban level. Ukraina Hotel Pavilion Taking into consideration the local signiďŹ cance of the Ukraina Hotel, the design extends beyond the functionality of an entryway and seeks to be a medium of entertainment, social and appreciative tool for the sheer majesty of the Ukraina Hotel. Gateway Bridge FOB “A recently-opened facility for pedestrians on OMR should serve as a model for the future. There is always a mental picture of how things should be. On a section of Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR), I see a closeness between the real and the imagined. With a foot overbridge extending from the entrance of Ramanujan IT City to the Thiruvanmiyur MRTS station thrown open to pedestrians, this section of OMR is now moving close to that image. More significantly, it is a big boost to road safety on this section where vehicular traffic moves faster” – Excerpts from February 19, 2018 THE HINDU

Wilderness The project views at social housing at an alternate perspective with the design of a simple, low budget, easy to build home in rural Russia that fully respected the site and context. Although two choices of house location were suggested it was chosen to ďŹ nd a place to build between existing buildings that were on the site - saving cost by sharing walls and also improving the thermal performance of the building. Ensuring that the basics were right, the design allows for complete openness to nature and can be completely insulated with screens when the need arises.
The goal was also to focus on the aesthetics and artistic appeal of a low cost home unlike similar projects. The placement of bamboo members were experimented upon and a man made pocket of forest within the wilderness was created. Winners of the Competition: Social Housing Revolution 2012
Sports Pavilion design @ Kumaraguru College of Technology One of the projects that form part of the institutional campus of KCT is the sports pavilion. The form of the pavilion is derived from the waing of the contour volume of the seating levels. Unlike the linear seating proďŹ le that would result in the cone of vision from a particular point of seating or angle, the contoured seating proďŹ le ensured a seamless viewing horizon from all angles.
Contoured lines that translate into seating areas
Cycling track @ Kumaraguru College of Technology The Design of a cycling and walking network at KCT involved not only the design of the tracks itself, but also the holistic program of bike sharing. Every student owns an access card that enables their ridership throughout the program. The program includes bicycle docking pods where bikes can be parked before and after usage. This is an eco friendly, pollution free alternative in institutions that reduces the ownership and usage of motorized vehicles in campuses.
Projects by Narrative, where our work plays the role of a storyteller. It is not just about describing a project or talking about one in poetics, but the fact that every single project narrates the stories upon which they were built to those who view them, perceive them, perhaps. And so we came across some really exciting stories, which were translated into works that we take great pride in. Hence projects by narrative, where stories become cemented reality.

Monterosa Holiday Home Located on the slopes of Sirumalai, Dindigul, the Monterosa Holiday House was designed to enhance the strengths of the contoured site, the incredible valley views, and the encompassing nature – all while respecting the surrounding landscape. The home cantilevers slightly over the slope, engaging nature, architecture and everyday life. What made this project a story on soil was the incorporation of a former footing of an unbuilt house that became part of the architecture of this house, thus symbolising that the past is in ow with the present, and the future.
Higginbothams Writer’s Cafe Harmonizing the love for food and books
The idea behind the Writer’s café is to bring in the style of a typical café from a European context. Space is visually connected to the neighbouring environment and as it opens out to the road, it gives a welcoming experience. In addition, the frontage is emphasized with subtle landscape. The interiors of the space create two worlds that coexist in harmony. The design of the display shelves set the language of the space while bringing the needed attention to the books.

Japan Marine Spares A collage of well-defined workspaces bound by warm and chic interiors that echo impressions of the sea and its waves define this office space in Vepery, Chennai. Being an office that deals with spare parts of ships, the interiors were designed to reflect lines and patterns of a ship’s anatomy and also fuse the effect that water creates on glass. The cubicles feature conveniently designed work desks for the staff and prominently several storage racks to hold their myriad of files. The shelves were custom designed with abstract patterns of the service pipelines in the mechanical floors of a ship. The partition walls also contain etchings on them resembling the lines one would observe while inside a ship.
Anchor lighting fixture designed in par with the them
The office space is an apartment converted into a work arena to suit the specific needs of the distinct line of work the company is involved in. The office space had to account for workspaces for around 30 employees, a manager’s cabin, a discussion room and a pantry. The apartment walls were removed to make way for a synergetic cubicle environment.
Studio Infiniti Located on Khader Nawaz Khan road, this showroom design became the result of two conicting factors one, being the fact that it had to be designed on a low budget and two, using materials that formed part of the older showroom design. The older showroom was torn down and the materials that comprised its composition are used in the newer showroom. Old is gold, and the proverbial statement stays perfectly true in the case of this project.
23 Cenotaph The goal of the project was to design a commercial space to achieve higher value in the marketplace. Located in an extremely sliver site, the main challenge was to ensure that the built form went beyond the deďŹ nitions of a mere aluminium clad box, and hence the ultimate decision was based on "Smart choices for maximum return" on the investment for the owner as well as the tenants. This included planning and understanding of the building’s location, competition, and tenant target market. Unlike most examples, the idea was to create a brand for he building itself than for it being a placeholder for another. The plot number itself was taken as the key to creating the identity – 23 Cenotaph.
Work by Typology, where our work goes a little beyond than just architecture. At Triple O Studio, our focus diverges over a varied spectrum of design, not just the design of four walls, a oor and a roof, but design based on usability, functionality, and so much more.

signage Signage design @ Kumaraguru College of Technology Design of signages at the institution that involved design of individual block signages, signages along the wall and parking signages. The key to the signage design was clean and simple text graphics and hence Helvetica was chosen as the font for the signage due to its simplicity and clarity. The material composition was in such a way so as to emphasise the textual graphics and the logo. Matte painted panel was used for the body, Illuminated panel for highlighting the infographics and Brushed metal for highlighting the campus logo was used.

Shimoga Riverfront Development The vision behind the development proposal is to create a thriving public space along the river, which can enhance the image of the city while simultaneously making it an essential part of the everyday lives of its residents. Successful cities have been characterized by active public sectors along rivers, water bodies, and its natural features. These spaces owe their triumph to their tendency to be able to adapt to satisfy changing needs. The revitalization of these spaces not only improves the quality of life but also acts as a stimulus for the development of the surrounding area and the city.
