Dining Rooms: New Home Style Dining Designs Presented By A TRI Pointe Expert

Layout #1: The Formal Dining Room Tierno Residence 1: Crisp white cabinetry provides display space for glassware and beautiful serving pieces. “For some of our customers, it’s important to have a formal dining room, especially for entertaining,” says Barbara. “They feel luxurious, especially with integrated features like floor-to-ceiling cabinetry or an adjacent wine room.”

Layout #2: Open-Concept Dining

Bradford Residence 1: Carrying the same rich wood tones from the living room into the dining space makes the entire great room feel connected. “Open-concept dining spaces have a laidback feel, but dramatic overhead chandelier lighting helps to define the space and creates a real focal point of the great room,” says Barbara. “An area rug under the table helps anchor the space.”

Layout #3: The Oversized Kitchen Island

Alston Residence 3: Elegant pendant lighting puts the spotlight on this dreamy oversized island. “A new trend is to create an eat-in kitchen, integrating dining directly into an oversized kitchen island,” says Barbara. “Because of the surface materials, the look is cohesive and really sophisticated. Plus, it’s a space-saver in a smaller home.”

Layout #4: Outdoor Dining

Tierno Residence 1: Made for entertaining, this California Room’s dining space is steps from the outdoor kitchen. “Indoor-outdoor living has transitioned from trend to lifestyle,” says Barbara, who notes that with multi-panel sliding doors, you can make the indoor-outdoor transition practically seamless. Indoor-influenced styling, like furnishings and pendant lighting, further blurs the boundary between inside and out.
