THREE AREA ESTABLISHMENTS THAT ARE A SURE BET FOR A GOOD TIME

Date nights, ladies nights, or celebrations of long-worked weeks - these are all great reasons to pop a cork on a bottle of wine to share with good friends or cozy up on a date night and listen to local talent sing a familiar tune.

Moulton boasts some pretty distinctive Texas wineries. Visit them all - you won’t be disappointed.

MAJEK VINEYARD & WINERY

Majek Vineyard & Winery, one of South Texas’ most awardwinning wineries, is located in the scenic rolling hills off I-10, near Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.

Founded by entrepreneur Lynne Majek in 2012, the Tasting Room and Restaurant are open Thursday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. They feature wines created from the best Texas grapes, delicious food in their restaurant, and music on the weekends.

The 1.5-acre working vineyard includes Blanc Du Bois and Black Spanish grapes.

Spend an afternoon visiting with friends in Majek’s old barn or outside with a view of the vineyard. Get away from the city and enjoy the big Texas sky, the constant southerly breeze, the beauty of the cardinals in the cedar trees, and a delicious glass (or bottle) of award-winning wine made exclusively with Texas grapes.

Majek Vineyard & Winery is a proud member of the Texas Independence Wine Trail, located on historic FM 957 in Moravia (Schulenburg).

Majek Vineyard & Winery is located at 12508 Farm-toMarket Road 957 in Schulenburg, just on the outskirts of Moulton.

Moravia Vineyards & Winery, above, is a favorite among local winery patrons. Whistly Duck, right, boasts a beautiful tasting room and frequent live entertainment.

WHISTLING DUCK VINEYARDS & WINERY

Texas country winery and tasting room nestled at the edge of a four-acre vineyard. Located a little off-the-beaten-path, once you arrive guests are encouraged to sit back, relax and enjoy the laid-back and fun atmosphere of this little piece of the Texas countryside. Saddle up to the tasting bar or the winery’s custom-made wine barrel tables and enjoy a glass of one of Whistling Duck’s handcrafted Texas wines. Or, relax in the country breeze on one of their covered wine sippin’ porches. Whistling Duck also offers several delicious appetizer and meal selections from their kitchen, including their popular meat and cheese tray featuring selections from Weimar’s own Kasper’s Meat Market.

Guests are welcome to amble down to the pond for a glimpse of some wildlife or fragrant wildflowers, sit under the large oak trees dotting the property, or take a stroll through the vineyard to witness where their wine began.
