ARCHITECTURE PORTFOLIO

TRISHA OLIVEROS UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES | SELECTED WORKS 2020 - 2022

Trisha is a young creative fresh out of architecture school. Her love of learning and new experiences led her to various paths -- from being a student-athlete to a student council member to a working student. While in school, she had a short experience with working in a small architectural design firm, started freelance work, and started working at Legazpi City Hall on her last semester while finishing her thesis project. Her architecture experience is rooted not only in solving spatial issues but as well as understanding how the built environment affects human emotions. This allows her to approach each project as an opportunity to learn and evolve as a designer. She would love to work with a team of creatives at a multi-disciplinary design firm. As of now, she is working freelance and is always interested in a challenge. Reach out to trishaaoliveros@gmail.com to connect!

The Coronavirus pandemic has incurred immense losses which made it difficult for the country to stabilize socially and economically. Food security is a main concern especially due to the mandatory quarantine and lockdown protocols, affecting the Agri-Food Supply Chains, farmers, and distributors. This urged the government to increase cold storage facilities to ensure adequate food supply for consumption and emergencies. This project aims to empower and assist farmers in their logistical and storage concerns, taking into account the unpredictable weather conditions in the city. With this in mind, the site on a mountain top in between the agricultural lands and projected urban center of the city is used for a distribution center, storage, and a drone airport typology. This project sees that agricultural produce on e-commerce platforms will be flourishing in the market 20 years from now. While drones may be in its pilot usage today, in 20 years, it will be established like the land motor delivery system. Tools: Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Lumion, Photoshop, Illustrator

The proposed Astro Sciences Institute will supplement the recently passed Philippine Space Act. Its main goal is not to produce astronauts, rockets, travel to the moon and back, but will focus on the designing of spacecraft and satellites; and studying international aerospace laws and regulations. Due to the lack of precedents which can also be attributed to the confidential nature of the project, the designer had undergone thorough interviews with STAMINA4Space scholars who built the Diwata 1 & 2 microsatellites and research involving non-disclosure agreements. The massing and programming concept of the building uses the lean production approach which involved plotting the different processes on site to reduce wastes and improve efficiency while also considering NASA design guidelines. Tools: Rhinoceros, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Lumion, Photoshop, Illustrator

This one month course explores computational methods for designing full-culm bamboo structures. Studio sessions involving physical 3d modelling with bamboo skewers were held online due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Throughout the duration of the program were a series of lectures about the principles of bamboo, bamboo construction, and grasshopper scripting lessons. For the final project, our team came up with a modular system involving a hyperbolic paraboloid bamboo roofing structure that could be put together like a bamboo puzzle. Hence, the name Bamboozle. Contribution: conceptualization, schematic design, grashopper scripting, rendering & visualization Tools: Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Lumion

SE E D FA L L Date: August - November 2020 Competition: WARMING (team) Location: various sites

The premise of this competition is designing a response to our changing climate and environment. Seedfall will be when climate change has caused biomes to shift and ecosystems to disappear. The collapse of the earth’s biodiversity prompted humans to create a structure dedicated to the preservation of the earth’s flora and fauna. Floating around the earth, these structures maneuver and position themselves based on different intents. Some are to avoid extreme weather events and position themselves where the climate is most familiar for its inhabitants. They are programmed to enable its inhabitants to live as if the climate didn’t change. They function as living gene banks saving as much as genetic information about to be erased by climate change. Once these hardened ecosystems mature, units of the structure can break off from the whole and descend to the earth to plant patches of mature ecosystems in severely degraded ones. Contribution: conceptualization, schematic design, grashopper scripting, post processing Tools: Grasshopper, Sketchup, Photoshop
