Best Jamaican Patties Soy patties are a tasty addition to vegetarian meals and barbecues. Soya patties are made by soaking the beans in water for minimum of 3 hours and boiling the soaked beans for 15 minutes in a large, heavy-based saucepan. Then the water is drained and beans are mashed in a blender until they are thoroughly combined. The soybean pulp is ready when the beans are blended into a stiff puree. All the ingredients are mixed together apart from the breadcrumbs. If you choose to bake the patties, they will cook in an oven at 350ยบF/177ยบC until brown. If frying, keep an eye on the patties and turn over when each side browns. Best fried over a low heat to prevent burning.
