The material selection in the bathroom was carefully chosen to amplify the space, while providing a soft contrast to the warm, natural tones in the overall unit.
The light grey half-terrazzo walls, accompanied by large format concrete tiles, create a strong visual continuity that anchor the space. This is followed by white glazed tiles that compliment the simple plaster ceiling that brings lightness to the bathroom.

In 2019, 5 unit types were selected to be constructed and fully completed on-site, to serve as show units.
With the design intent already reviewed and finalised, the process was mostly focused on refining detailing, site issues and coordination between contractors, client and consultants to ensure quality construction of rooms that are serviceable and fully functional.

The reception area is located at the atrium space, surrounded by core walls cladded in white terrazzo panels, & volumetric “boxes” cladded in black granite.
The reception counters & area were designed as vibrant, sculptural forms, interspersing between the monolithic core & “boxes” that contain the loft units, shared kitchen, gym and staff offices. An eclectic mix of finishes with a variety of details contribute to the playful & vibrant atmosphere.

Unit corridors are transient, semi-private spaces that are only accessible to guests who have already checked in. Largely linear in its deisgn, the unit corridor features oak slats and wall panelling to provide textural variations, with a single entrance panel in accent blue flanking each unit.

WELLNESS SPA
Odongdo camellias
WELLNESS
On a day filled with sunshine, the lovers ventured to the all enticing island of Odongdo. While taking a walk through the rocky cliffs, they heard tearful cries coming from a cave. What they found there was beyond their belief, a gorgeous graceful dragon that hurt one of her wings. They were determined to help the beast and concocted a camellia oil. After many days of tending, the dragon gained her strength, as a token of her gratitude she promised to stay with them if they ever needed her help.
The design narrative of the wellness areas (spa, gym & changing rooms) was heavily inspired by the site context; famous for its colonies of camellia flowers. This was eventually conceptualised as ideas and design strategies of organic geometry, intimate corners, lightness in texture and volumes.

The design of the spa explores these ideas, with few sculptural volumes and feature installations alongside neutral finishes and light accents that maintain a certain softness throughout the space.
