Letter from the Chancellor

DEAR TROJANS:

This past year in Trojan athletics was filled with both excitement and disappointment. We saw several of our teams—most notably women’s basketball—have excellent seasons cut short due to the pandemic. Our spring sports teams were showing outstanding potential before they were forced to the sidelines.

This report outlines in detail the progress we are making in intercollegiate athletics, from on-field performance to fundraising to student-athlete development. I am especially pleased to report several home attendance records were set in several sports last year.

As we look to the future, I am optimistic we will return to the field and the court this fall, and I am looking for great things from our programs. We have the right leadership and the committed student-athletes in place to enjoy one of our best years ever.

I have said it many times before that great universities stir great emotions, and this is so true when it comes to athletics. There’s nothing like coming together with fellow Trojans to support our teams. In that vein, your continued support is necessary if we are to continue the great strides we have made. I know we can count on you!

Go Trojans!

Sincerely,

Jack Hawkins, Jr., Ph.D. Chancellor
