Carlton Martial was named one of three finalists for the Burlsworth Trophy, which is presented annually to the nation’s top player who began their career as a walk-on. The other two finalists were National Championship winning quarterback Stetson Bennett from Georgia and Arkansas linebacker Grant Morgan
Carlton Martial and Javon Solomon earned Pro Football Network All-America Honors
Carlton Martial finished the season with 24 more tackles than anyone else in the Sun Belt and was the only player averaging double-digit tackles per game. He ranked sixth nationally with 10.6 tackles per game and ended the season just 17 tackles shy of the all-time Sun Belt record
Javon Solomon led the Sun Belt in tackles for loss and finished second in sacks. He ranked ninth nationally in tackles for loss and seventh in sacks. He became one of just 31 players since 2000 to record 17 tackles for loss and 11 sacks through the first 10 games of a season
Kimani Vidal and Austin Stidham were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, while Stidham became just the fifth student-athlete in Troy Athletics history to earn back-to-back Academic All-America honors
Twelve Trojans were named to the All-Sun Belt Team led by first team selections Carlton Martial and Javon Solomon
Troy defeated South Alabama for the fourth straight time in the “Battle for the Belt”
The Trojan defense was one of the best in the country ranking 10th in tackles for loss, 11th in sacks, 21st in passing yards allowed, eighth in interceptions and 24th in total defense
Reddy Steward ranked second nationally (min. 25 targets) holding opponents to a 28.6 reception percentage (8-of-28); among players with 20 or more targets, he allowed the fewest receiving yards on the year with just 81 on the eight catches against him
Cameron Kaye was named a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award, for the nation’s top long snapper; he was named a third-team All-American by Special Teams U
