CLIFTON LIBRARY // CONCEPT
AutoCAD // Rhino // V-RAY // Photoshop // Illustrator // Wacom
CLIFTON HEIGHTS, CINCINNATI OHIO
Inspired by the idea of stacking Mies-ian glass boxes on top of each other. Each stacked floor plane separates the library by media type, while primary circulation remains external. Circulation involving repeated exit and re-entry breathes energy into this steel + glass structure’s facadesomething which the formality of traditional libraries inhibits.

CLIFTON LIBRARY // INTERIOR Rhino // V-RAY // Photoshop // Illustrator
This library aims to integrate the surrounding urban environment in its interior. Interior space is defined by overhead planes finished in oxidized copper, while the floor planes remain bounded only by glazing. Bearing walls faced in bookmatched cork assist with acousitcs. A system of recessed scrims shade the interior when desired.

Libraries are divided by floor based on media type. They are then stacked based on user accessibility. Fastest access to computers and digital media on L1 creates a high-traffic environment that blends with street life. Stacks and adult reading space exist on L2 to separate from street life while maintaining view of it. L3 features a versatile auditorium + event space with outdoor terrace that frames prime views of Burnet Woods park. L-1 houses the childrens library for security and convenience purposes. The external monumental stair allows for each space to operate on its own daytime + nighttime hours, increasing operating efficiency.

PERMIT EXPERIENCE // PETROS HOMES AutoCAD
As a paid intern I developed my technical AutoCAD skills while gaining valuable insight into the building permit process. My cheif responsibility was preparing CD sets to be submitted for permit. These $300k-$1.2m custom and production homes were located in 7 cities and 3 counties throughout NE Ohio, with each city requiring a unique set of markups and construction details. Detail in framing and foundation plans became particularly key.

UNITIZED CONSTRUCT
Birch Plywood // Galvinized Steel Hardware
Pushing the concept of a dynamic or changeable unit, the design incorporated 30/60/90 degree triangular geometry canted 15 degrees. A simple track, bolt + nut system allows each individual unit to create a diagonal void and cantilever in any direction.

100 + 1 BODY MANTLE Dental Flossers // Rubber Bands
Nearly 1000 everyday Kroger flossers and rubber bands as a stitch transform into an architectural composition. The linear, articulating, seemingly organic form of the body mantle results from serial knots at two points on each flosser.

SPATIAL JOINT
Micron // Prisma // Charcoal // Bristol
Based on a sequence of 16 6” graphics, this drawing comments on the ability to create a continuous space that establishes visual depth in an abstract way. Employing a collection of 2-D graphics, this series of 5 11” x 17” renderings takes on panoramic landscape qualities.
