Speedo makes seamless transition from swimwear to smalls With Lara Bingle and Olympic Swimmer Andrew Lauterstein fronting the brand, plus comfort and fit technologies mastered in helping give Olympic athletes an edge, Speedo UnderBody has always been destined for success, even as a relative newcomer to the crowded intimates market. The brain child of True Alliance Director, Michel Hendler, the original concept was “Brilliantly simple”, says Speedo UnderBody Product Designer, Tahnee McIlwraith; “The idea was to create Speedos that you can wear 24/7, not just when you’re swimming, with the same great fit and quality that

everyone knows and trusts, focused into wonderfully comfortable, but also highly fashionable, underwear. The Use of SpeeDry moisture management technology across the entire UnderBody range is an added feature that improves comfort and defines UnderBody as a performance underwear brand” said McIlwraith. So what can we look forward to for Winter 2010? “The new element I am most excited about is the burn out modal, a beautiful fabrication, and a really interesting story which hasn’t been seen before in the Australian underwear market.”

There’s no place like gnome You’ve seen him around and coveted him, we know. Now he can be yours! Ben Sherman Gnomes will be available to adopt from the True Alliance PR Showroom, Level 1, 151 Crown Street, Darlinghurst from Monday 9th to Friday 13th of November. Be quick!

Suits you, sir Ben Sherman, A Great British Icon introduces a brand new concept in modern tailoring, Ben Sherman Savile Row. The first Ben Sherman store dedicated to tailoring, on none other than London’s prestigious Savile Row, the store will showcase the new premium collection of readyto-wear tailoring and accessories, as well as providing an extensive array of options from its superb made-tomeasure service. Two blocks form the basis of the Ben Sherman Savile Row aesthetic; the Kings and Camden fits epitomise modern day mod; slim line, clean cut and ultra sharp. A short block, narrow lapel, slim pockets, low break in the jacket front and a short vent are the key design elements that form the DNA of the Camden fit, while Kings offers a more relaxed option. Elegant vintage inspired linings feature English roses, paisley and flock prints in deep red, teal, black and navy. These unconventional linings remind us that this collection is truly Ben Sherman; sharp with an underlying element of British eccentricity. All suiting is signed off with Corozo nut buttons. Luxury Italian fabrics; 100% pure new wools, super 100s and wool mohair make up a

beautiful and very fresh collection of suiting that is sure to make its own statement on ‘the Row’. Ready-towear suiting is offered in sizes 38-48 and will be priced at £350 - £550. Made to Measure from Ben Sherman is a true rock star experience. The Rock Star roots of Savile Row date back to the time of Apple Studios when The Beatles performed a live

gig on the roof of number three. Ben Sherman blends both elements of the ‘Row’ with its own style and attitude. With the choice of 50 luxury fabrics and exclusive linings, both new and current customers will be introduced to the ultimate menswear experience from Ben Sherman. Not going be in London any time soon? The Kings fit will be available

in Australia in a range of colours and fabrications, and Australia’s version of the Camden, the City, will satisfy all those mods looking for a slimfit suit for the winter 2010 season. Above: Tailored to suit you Below: A high top from the LACOSTE Vintage Tennis collection

Vintage tennis racquets inspire strategic trend for Autumn Inspired by vintage tennis racquets, LACOSTE have produced a capsule collection of four new shoes, the

Vintage Tennis collection. The dark brown used leather on bindings and the off white of the wooden racquets

evoke the colour palette for this very special line of shoes.

LACOSTE RED! Returns for Fall/Winter 2010 Fall/Winter 2010 sees the return of the LACOSTE RED! line, which was launched last season as a younger, more fitted and more urban segment of the famed crocodile lifestyle. For LACOSTE RED!, creative director Christophe Lemaire takes us on a trip to Mexico. ‘Vibrant, vivid colours wake up basic black for this kaleidoscope collection’, Lemaire explains. The guys will no doubt adore the blue cotton gingham check twill shirt, with its skinny fit and two-button corner cut cuffs, paired with slim-fitting black trousers in combed cotton. Other signature pieces for men this fall include a crew-neck fleece sweatshirt with kaleidoscope print, a zipped wool

jersey ‘Teddy Boy’ cardigan in grey with aquamarine ribbing at the waist, cuffs and collar, and a colourful striped jersey polo that will wake up any winter wardrobe. Girls will definitely love the colour block effect of styling a short sleeve dress with boat neck worn over a black turtleneck and neon yellow tights. A sleeveless blouson with detachable hood in coated gabardine and a quilted nylon jacket paired with a knitted mini-skirt round out the must-have items from the FW09 LACOSTE RED! line for women.

LACOSTE presents pure colour and relaxed elegance for Fall/Winter ‘10 James Turrell’s trick-of-the-eye canvases, that are in fact entire rooms of colour, inspired LACOSTE Creative Director Christophe Lemaire and informed the set design of the Autumn Winter ‘10 show. Against this backdrop of evolving colour blocks, walked two distinct groups of models “I wanted the show to focus on the chic and sophisticated side of LACOSTE,” says Lemaire. “The collection is about pure colour and relaxed elegance. It is warm and comfy, but clearly more abstract and less referenced.” The soft, matte feeling of the warm wools that dominate the collection, epitomized by the cape draped as a dress, contrasts with a transparent plastic raincoat worn loose over a tight bomber and matching pants. “There is the charming, masculine look made famous by Diane Keaton as Annie Hall, with ties and shirts in matching fabric worn with men’s chinos,” explains Lemaire. “And then there is a more futuristic and feminine pop look: Princess Leia with a touch of 1960s Courrèges so to speak. This group features voluminous coats in double faced wool finished with ribbons and oversized sporty metal snaps worn over an all-in-one soft knit jumpsuit and topped off with a signature cap-cum-scarf. Lemaire finished the show with a finale of head-to-toe suiting for both men and women. The monochrome styling of the jackets, pants and waistcoats is decidedly mod ern,

but when you touch the fabric, you discover that the entire outfit is crafted from Milano jersey, the contemporary ‘easy-chic’ context in which Lemaire has placed LACOSTE with this collection is loud and clear.

Rockport is ready to run in style More than 20 years ago, Rockport revolutionized the men’s dress shoe market by creating a smart, sophisticated looking shoe that was designed using athletic footwear technology. The “DresSport” revolution spawned a wave of imitations from footwear rivals however none have stood the test of time like Rockport. First developed in 1983, the original DresSports were worn by Rockport’s vice president Tony Post in the 1990 NYC marathon – a true demonstration of remarkable cushioning and support. Tony wanted to show the world that Rockport’s product was more than just a gimmick…and he was even willing to push himself to the ultimate physical challenge to prove his point. Now, almost twenty years later, Rockport is doing it again with DreSports 2. To coincide with the relaunch of the collection in November 2009, an international team of seven athletes will run the New York City marathon again, wearing the new generation of the classic dress shoe. Weighing less than the average

Rockport Vice President Tony Post running the 1990 NYC marathon in DresSport running shoe, the DresSports 2 is designed to withstand the work day, combining sophisticated styling and quality leathers with an athletic sole for unprecedented durability. The

DresSports 2 collection is built for the marathon pace of life. A limited edition shoe, as seen pictured above, will also be available to commemorate the re-launch

and will be available in Australia at selected Rockport stores, along with the rest of the DresSport collection.

Happy Birthday Lee, 120 years young! Yep, that’s right. Lee and Riders by Lee are now part of the True Alliance family – and we couldn’t be happier to have two on-trend and edgy denim brands on board. See the Winter 2010 collections at the True Alliance media showings this November.

Stephanie Seymour smoulders in Chantelle A truly iconic supermodel of the 90s and Sports Illustrated pin-up girl, Stephanie Seymour has long epitomized seduction, gracing the cover of over 300 magazines in her 26 year long career. Looking fit and fine at the age of 41, Stephanie, a devout fan of Chantelle even during her Victoria’s Secret days, teamed up with Fashion Photographer Peter Lindberg to be the face of the Parisian label. “The French really know lingerie, they get it. They understand how a properly fitted, well-designed bra can change your whole shape. A dress that looks blah can be transformed by the right undergarment,” said Seymour of her Chantelle smalls. And with all the right assets, Stephanie is the perfect woman to demonstrate the Chantelle difference. More than a fashion accessory, Chantelle lingerie makes a woman feel feminine and comfortable, all whilst looking like a million dollars. If you don’t believe us, just watch his jaw drop…

Research shows Reebok Easytone is a girl’s new best friend

This is where EasyTone can help reinvent the way in which women approach their body toning. Designed to supplement a gym and fitness regime, EasyTone footwear works by using a unique balance pod system in the sole which creates a natural instability with every step, and is intended to be used when out walking. Electromyography testing which uses electrodes to measure muscle activation and is commonly used in the Reebok’s latest innovation, the EasyTone sneaker, a shoe which encourages leg toning through the use of a balance pod system to promote greater muscle use, is the answer to

women’s prayers everywhere – and we can prove it! At Reebok, we know that modern women lead busy lives and can’t always fit in time at the gym, and we also know that more than half of women are unhappy with the muscle tone in their legs and butt[i]. Additionally, our research shows almost 60% of females around the world dislike running[ii] and are looking for new, easy and fun ways to keep themselves in shape. diagnosis of neuromuscular conditions, shows that they help to tone your body by engaging your glute muscles up to 28% more than walking in a regular performance sneaker. The research, which was

undertaken independently at the University of Delaware in the United States of America[iii], also showed that thighs and calves are worked an additional 11%, providing women with a full lower body workout with minimum effort. For busy women, EasyTone fits in perfectly with their lifestyle. As Reebok research shows, walking is a popular form of exercise for women worldwide with 76% of women walking for 30 minutes or more every day[iv]. This, along with EasyTone, offers them the opportunity to undertake a full workout of their lower body, whilst going about their normal daily life. Women can now get the benefits of a session in the gym as they walk around their office, take their children to school, or even while they are out shopping. It’s not just Reebok who are excited by the new technology – 81% of women like the idea of a sneaker that helps promote toning in their legs and would wear them to keep themselves in shape[v]. With its proven ability to enhance the wearer’s lower body without compromising on style, EasyTone is truly fashionable and functional footwear. Available in a diversity of colours including sneaker style shoes with flashes of vibrant colour – ideal for a long walk in the park – and more

understated, all leather versions which make them a perfect low profile option for everyday wear, EasyTone has already become an essential item for women’s wardrobes worldwide. Available at Footlocker and independent retailers..

Nautica to host sailing lessons for media in 2010 Nautica is a leading global lifestyle brand whose products are always crisp, clean and distinct in style. The brand offers refined casual classics inspired and energized by the water, and for those who attended Nautica’s Summer ’09 collection launch in June this year - a fashion parade and luncheon at the exclusive, members-only, Royal Motor Yacht Club, Point Piper - you’ll know the brand understands how to lay on an event worthy of the most indulgently wined-and-dined editor. Following on from this, Nautica will celebrate the Winter 2010 season by treating media to a once in a lifetime experience tied to its active, adventurous and spirited lifestyle – you guessed it – sailing lessons on Sydney Harbor. For those less adventurous types, an opportunity to dress in your best nautical style and picnic on the harbor’s edge will be on offer. Who knows, after a glass of something cold and sparkling you may be tempted to get your toes wet and join in the action.

Right: Set to the high-seas with Nautica this summer, well, the harbour anyway. No skill required!

Vice Magazine co-founder stars in Teva’s online ads Adventure footwear brand TEVA recently collaborated with popular and outspoken personality Gavin McInnes, on a series of new hit-web videos to launch their new hiking boots; the Riva and the Dalea. Better known as one of the cofounders of hipster magazine VICE, author of the DO’s and the DONT’s, Gavin McInnes, who also established a cult website and radio show, Street Carnage, can now be seen as The Naturist in a series of humorous, if not always practical, how to survive

to the great outdoors. Lest you doubt his survival credentials, Mc Innes has been known to survive for days on only granola made out of tree bark, pine cones and sap, whilst wearing a full length coat with matching hat and gloves woven out of dandelion stems. He treats his bee stings with poison ivy, inadvertently starts a forest fire, and the animal trap he sets successfully captures.. a rat. To his great credit, McInnes survived the 3 day video shoot in the

remote Catskills of New York without so much as triple grande caramel macchiato. Lucky for him, while he might not be the most reliable source of information, he most certainly picked the right TEVA footwear that protects his feet over miles of rugged

terrain while looking for nuts, berries and the next watering hole. First episodes to watch and learn what NOT TO DO when venturing into the wild: www.teva.com/ naturist/

The North Face young guns in free ski paradise In August 2009, The North Face invited two of its free ski athletes to take on an epic heli-trip in NewZealand. Blessed with perfect conditions, accessing some of the most drool-worthy terrain, and enjoying an untouched playground, young guns Fraser McDougall (NZ) and Charlie Timmins (Aust) took on a new challenge, living their dream, exploring their limits. Stephen Winnacott, Marketing Manager of The North Face, takes us back: “The chopper hovered delicately over the knife edge ridge, barley touching down. One by one we cautiously exited the chopper, on the spine of the ridge we crouched, clinging to our skis. With a swirl of wind and snow the helicopter lifted above us. Absorbed by our mountainous surroundings, we listened as the chopper blades whoomped into the distance and silence fell around us. The afternoon sun had begun to fall and cast its orange glow over New Zealand’s majestic Southern Alps. Clicking into our bindings, we moved along the ridge. Passing through the shadow of a large rocky buttress, we immediately feet the cold that had already begun to creep in under the towering ridges and peaks where it would reside until dawn. We welcomed the warmth of food and

drink that awaited us at camp below. We were in search of one last magic lines to ski from the top of this ridge through its cliffs, winddrifts and steep open slopes that were falling. vertically into the valley below. We’d explored the many options from below, but it looked like a different mountain now that we were standing on top. Despite their young age, Fraser and Charlie felt confident. Their experience was obvious. Without deliberation they pointed their skis downward and set off through a series of narrow shoots and rock drops with speed and commitment until they found their way towards the main prize. Pausing momentarily to carefully assess the terrain, one at a time they dropped in, hucking themselves into the air and landing with the stealth of a ninja. We gathered below, and looked up to admire the lines left by each others skis. Then turning to face the vast untouched white valley below, we skied off into the shadows, where we would reside until dawn.” The North Face Snowsports Collection continues to deliver innovative gear through cuttingedge features, ground-breaking technologies, and pioneering fabrics and designs to deliver top-performing jackets and pants for all of people downhill needs.
