of Wollman Rink is more of a saga than anything else.
As a popular ice skating venue in Central Park that opened in 1949, it fell into disrepair, and in the 1980’s was subject to a six year renovation process. After six unsuccessful years that cost the city $12 million, it was announced that the city would start all over again. This was in 1986 when Donald J. Trump decided he would do something about it, as he watched the unending attempts at fixing it and could stand it no more. That’s when he offered to renovate it himself at no cost to the city. Amazingly, his offer was at first ridiculed by city officials but then embraced by the media and citizens of New York, who welcomed his enthusiasm and generosity. He had promised to get it done in six months but had never built a skating rink, so the general opinion was that if the city could not get it done in six years, how could he get it done in six months? Fortunately, Donald J. Trump likes challenges and he definitely had one with this project. Wollman Rink is over an acre in size, and would require 22 miles of piping. It also required two 35,000 pound refrigeration units and knowledge of a brine system for refrigerating the ice. These were big details that had to be addressed, in addition to the leadership and organization required for getting the work done correctly on a daily basis, and in record time. The city of New York rejoiced when less than six months later, ahead of schedule and under budget, they had a newly functioning and beautiful skating rink in Central Park. The gala opening included Olympic Champions Peggy Fleming, Dorothy Hamill, Scott Hamilton and many others. When you come to New York, don’t forget to visit. Looking out at the incredible skyline while skating under the trees in Central Park will give you moments to remember forever. wollman rink is often seen in movies and reality shows, such as Love Story, Home Alone 2, Stepmom and Survivor, and was recently the site for the Rolex Central Park Horse Show, 5 days of world class equestrian champions in an amazing setting. It has also become multi-seasonal, in that the very popular Victorian Gardens is open for the non-skating seasons, which provides elegant rides and amusements for children. The location is both accessible and scenic, and gives Central Park an added bonus of activities for visitors and residents alike.

uch beloved by citizens, the Central Park Carousel is the fourth
carousel that has opened in Central Park, the first carousel opening well over a century ago in 1871, and has more than 250,000 riders every year. Managed by the Trump Organization and located near east 65th Street, the Carousel was restored in 1990 and features 57 hand-carved horses for children of all ages to enjoy. It has also been featured on many TV series and is highlighted in J.D. Salingerʼs Catcher in the Rye.

more synonymous with greatness in the sport of golf than the name Jack Nicklaus, and it has been argued that no single person has changed the face of the sport more than Jack Nicklaus — the record-setting champion, the acclaimed course designer, the philanthropist, and the good-will ambassador. Jack was named “Golfer of the 20th Century” or “Golfer of the Millennium” by almost every major media outlet in the world. He was also named Individual Male Athlete of the Century by Sports Illustrated, and one of the 10 Greatest Athletes of the Century by ESPN. His playing legacy is built on 120 professional wins worldwide, including a record 18 major-championship titles. The legacy Jack has left as a player can be rivaled only by the legacy he is leaving as a golf-course designer, businessman and philanthropist. With his firm, Nicklaus Design, having created over 415 courses in 45 countries — Jack is responsible for over 300 of those — the man known as the Golden Bear continues to further his mission of introducing and growing the game of golf around the world. That is among the many reasons Jack became just the 16th individual in history to receive both the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal — the United States’ two highest civilian honors. Even at the age of 77, Jack Nicklaus continues to grow his business and brand, in both the golf and lifestyle categories. Hutton) searched for years to find a proper location between the Atlantic Ocean and Lake Worth. The quest for a new home had begun when it became apparent that she was to be the very wealthy Queen of Palm Beach, and Hogarcito, her previous estate, was far too small for her large scale and fabulous entertaining. At the time, there was little else on the land but undergrowth and swampy grounds, seemingly of not much use for a building site.
