An easy trip No matter whether you arrive by car, bus, boat or plane, it is easy to get to Trysil. The resort is only 2.5 hours from Oslo by car. Trysil focuses even more on children Children are the most important guests in Trysil, and this season we have made even more improvements to our children’s areas.

Opens 18 December. • Big Horn Steakhouse, an Americanstyle steak house with a traditional and relaxed atmosphere. Ski holiday advice Dressing for the weather Trysil winters are great, but they can also be cold. You should therefore make sure that you and your children are wrapped up warm when hitting the slopes or just spending time outside. Wool and fleece are good under and middle-layer fabrics. Your external garments should be windproof. Mittens, sturdy shoes and warm socks are also a must. Mittens are warmer than gloves. Don’t forget to wear something warm and thick around your neck and on your head. And remember to wear a helmet on the slopes. Currency Many shops and restaurants in Trysil accept euro and dollars. Most take credit cards. There are two staffed banks in Trysil town centre. There are also three cashpoints in the town centre and one at Trysil Tourist Centre. You can easily use these to withdraw Norwegian kroner. Trysil’s charming shops There is a wide selection of shops and services available in Trysil. You will find several well-stocked food shops in Trysil town centre, at Trysil Tourist Centre and at Trysil Høyfjellssenter. The supermarkets with the longest opening hours are open Mon–Thu 08.00–21.00, Fri 08.00–23.00, Sat 08.00–20.00 and Sun 11.00–20.00. Most goods are very reasonably priced, so there is no need to shop for food before arriving in Trysil!

Remember that the tread on your winter tyres must be at least 3 mm deep. Use the best tyres for the car’s back wheels. This reduces the risk of skidding. Check that you have the correct air pressure in your tyres. Call the Norwegian Directorate of Public Roads on +47 175 for up-to-date information on road, weather and traffic conditions. Pay attention while driving, as road and weather conditions can change rapidly. Adapt your speed to the conditions. Make that sure you keep at least four seconds behind the car in front of you. Give yourself plenty of time for the journey. Make regular stops. If you’re feeling tired – Stop. Why not take a 15-minute nap before continuing?

Get more out of your ski holiday! Atmospheric sleigh-ride A mere half-hour away from the slopes on Trysilfjellet Mountain you can join Trysil Hestesenter for an exciting horse-drawn sleigh ride. The light from flame torches guides the sleigh through the untouched snow-covered woods around Trysil. Elks can often be spotted during the ride. You will be wrapped up warm in reindeer hides, and the driver will ensure that you have a safe, comfortable and speedy ride. The ride takes about an hour. Enjoy a cosy stop-over in a Sami lavvo tent where elk stew is served. Evening rides available Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Family days Tuesday and Wednesdays.

Dog-sleighing in the Trysil wilderness Steer your own dog-sleigh through the wilderness around Trysil! Welltrained and enthusiastic dogs will take you on a family day out, or an evening ride. You can choose whether you want to steer the sleigh or just sit back and enjoy the ride. Aktiv Fritid organises family days at the dogs’ home, Landgård, Monday–Wednesday and Saturday–Sunday. Fun with the dogs and puppies and a sleigh-ride in the local area make for a great family experience.
