Minister of Trade and Industry Rob Davies has announced the winners of the 6th Annual South African Premier Business Awards’ The awards organised by the dti in partnership with ProudlySA and Brand_SA, were held at the Sandton Convention Centre. This annual event was part of the Proudly SA buy local summit held on the 12 and 13 March 2019 at the Sandton Convention Centre. The 2019 South African Business Premier Awards is celebrating 25 years of notable strides made in different sectors of the economy by recognising businesspeople who have contributed to the growth of the South African economy.

These prestigious awards have gathered a diverse range of businesses all with one thing in common: building businesses that are serious about transformation and growing the economy. In his keynote address Minister Rob Davies said the awards are aimed at promoting and encouraging businesses across all sectors to embrace transformation, grow the South African economy and make the country a globally competitive nation. “While recognising excellence in business through an initiative of this stature, we will also ensure that we put our focus on those areas of business regulation that require amendments to improve enterprise and industrial development, fast-track economic transformation and equity, and protect consumers,� Davies said

The first award of the night is that of the Young Entrepreneur Award. The award went to Bathu Swag a shoe business owned by Theo Baloyi. Entrepreneur Theo Baloyi has urged young black business people to pursue their dreams. The Women Owned Business Award went to CTE Investment (Pty) Ltd The SMME Award went to Eco Smart Eco Smart which works with NGOs on skills development Play Your Part award went to Intercessor Army Franchising Saab Grintek Defence (Pty) Ltd took home two awards, The Exporter Award and the enterprise development support award The investor award went to the Coega Development Corporation. The manufacturer award went to J.BUNYAN TIMBERCRAFT CC T/A TIMBERCRAFT specialists in timber construction. The black industrialist award went to Afro Zonke Projects and Investments The Proudly South African Member Company Award, went to Jane Massey Trading cc and RSAMade.
All winners in various categories were: Afro-zonke Projects and Investment; Saab Grintek Defence (Pty) Ltd (two awards); Coega Development Corporation; J.BUNYAN TIMBERCRAFT CC T/A TIMBERCRAFT;; Eco Smart; CTE Investments (Pty) Ltd; Intercessor Army Franchising and Bathu Swag (Pty) Ltd.
