The TSTC System is governed by a nine-member Board of Regents and operated under the direction of a system-wide chancellor. These regents who provide a statewide perspective, are appointed by the governor to six-year terms. The board meets quarterly to provide leadership and enact policies for the successful management and operation of the system. An immigration attorney with a practice in Austin, Ivan Andarza is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Austin Bar Association and Hispanic Bar Association of Austin. Andarza is also a former board member and chair of Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation.

State Lawmakers Tour TSTC Texas legislators visited South Texas making a stop at TSTC Harlingen and other Valley institutions of higher education during the 19th Rio Grande Valley Legislative Tour. The RGV Legislative Tour is sponsored by the Rio Grande Valley Partnership, a Valleywide Chamber of Commerce, and aims to educate Texas state legislators on the unique assets, opportunities and needs of the South Texas region.

Nursing Students Meet Lawmakers Jessica Puente, a nursing student at Texas State Technical College Harlingen, was among the students celebrating TSTC Day at the Capitol in Austin. Puente and her nine classmates were part of a larger TSTC contingent that included students, faculty and administrators from all four statewide campuses and members of the Board of Regents as the TSTC System celebrated TSTC Day at the Capitol and received special recognition in the House and Senate chambers. ř6DŗQD @ RS@SD ETMCDC HMRSHSTSHNM @MC CDBHRHNMR L@CD GDQD @ƤDBS all the students at all the TSTC campuses,” Puente said. “It was very nice to meet other students from other campuses. The TSTC contingent visited both chambers during the morning. After lunch the group met with KDFHRK@SNQR @MC RS@ƤDQR EQNL SGDHQ respective districts. The Harlingen group discussed the need for further allied health funding in the Rio Grande Valley, a medically underserved area. The TSTC nursing students provided anyone that stopped by with free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings. The students were accompanied AX ,DF@M %KNQDR @ QDFHRSDQDC nurse and nursing instructor at TSTC. She said the visit to SGD RS@SDĹ—R B@OHSNK V@R @ FQD@S experience for her students. Ĺ™3GD ADMDĆĽS ENQ NTQ FQ@CT@SD nurses was the exposure to our legislative process and the voice they have in it and getting excited about the powerful voice they will have in healthcare,â€? TSTC Harlingen Cares Students and employees at TSTC Harlingen mobilized a donation drive in the wake of the explosion of a fertilizer plant in West, Texas. The explosion occurred near TSTC 6@BN @MC NUDQ ƼESX DLOKNXDDR and students of the college lived HM 6DRS @MC VDQD CHQDBSKX @ƤDBSDC by the explosion. The Aviation Technology Club also took money from its own fundraising account and purchased waters and other nonperishable food. One-stop Shopping Experience for Harlingen Students The new Student Services Building opened its doors in January to facilitate the enrollment process for new and returning students.
