Call M aureen 086 313 2340 October was a very important month for Unislim Belmullet! We had our event of the year in the Unislim calendar which is the Slimmer of the Year final in Dublin. As you all know we had 2 members of our class reach the finals. Andrew and Amanda Baylan lost 12 and a half st between them and transformed their image and their lives! The event itself was amazing. Contestants and their class leaders were treated like royalty with an overnight all paid for stay in Dublin with a lovely meal out and lots of other surprises! It was something to treasure and will never be forgotten! Another special thing happened during October! Another of our members hit the 6st loss mark after about a year and a half on plan! Bernie Dunne looks amazing and has worked so hard, also motivating other members along the way! Well done Bernie we are all very proud of you! With roughly 8 weeks til christmas you too can transform yourself. It's never too late! Let me help you change your life. Just talk to me and we can get started! Don't wait for the new year! You could be facing into a stone lighter! Contact me at 086 3132340

vacination? Everyone aged 65 years and overAnyone over six months of age with a long term illness requiring regular medical follow-up such as chronic lung disease, chronic heart disease, diabetes or those with lower immunity due to disease or treatment, Pregnant women, Residents of nursing homes and other long stay facilities, Healthcare workers It is important for all those in the at risk groups to be vaccinated again this year as the virus strains in the vaccine have changed since last year. This year?s seasonal flu vaccine protects against the three common flu virus strains expected to be circulating this year based on advice from the World Health Organization. Seasonal flu vaccines are safe and have been given for more than 60 years to millions of people across the world. Reactions are generally mild and serious side effects are very rare. Older and at risk patients may not get sufficient protection from the vaccine themselves, so people who care for them need to be vaccinated. The flu vaccine is available free to healthcare workers from their local Occupational Health department.

Eye Gar deni ng Ti ps Essential November Jobs Finish pl ant ing ? Early November is still a good time to plant trees and shrubs. Apply a 2-3 inch mulch layer, but stay several inches away from the trunk. Keep the soil moist, not wet, to the depth of the roots and keep watering until the ground is frozen hard. Finish pl ant ing bul bs ? As long as the ground can be worked and isn?t too wet, you can still plant spring-flowering bulbs. You might even get a late season discount. Mulch ? Flower beds will benefit from a thick layer of mulch after the ground freezes to prevent injury to plants from frost heaving. Wint erize roses ? After a heavy frost, place a 6 to 10-inch deep layer of mulch (topsoil works well) over each plant. This is typically done for hybrid tea roses but not necessarily for hardier varieties, such as shrub roses. Prune sparingly, just enough to shorten overly long canes. Don?t prune climbers. Cl ean and st ore garden t ool s ? This is something many gardeners (myself included) neglect to do. But a little preventive maintenance now will make for an easier start in spring. Brush off any soil, remove rust with steel wool, sharpen if necessary, and oil exposed metal. Make a compost or leaf mold pile ? Something as simple as chicken wire bent into a circle will work well for storing leaves.

Tidy t he garden ? This one depends on your preferences. I tend to leave most plants (those without signs of disease or infestation) standing through the winter to provide interest and trap snow (it?s a good insulator for the plants below). But not everyone likes that look so if you prefer a ?tidy? garden, remove the spent flowers and foliage of perennials after they are damaged by frost. Set up bird f eeders ? Birds also appreciate a source of unfrozen drinking water during the winter. If you?re using a bird bath, put a heater in it and keep the water shallow. Prepare garden beds for next year ? Add organic matter, such as chopped leaves or compost, to improve the soil?s structure, draining, and nutrient holding capacity. In established beds, work the organic matter into the first few inches of soil around existing plants. Pl ant indoor bul bs ? Amaryllis, paperwhites and calla lilies can all be started in November for a beautiful show by year end. Start an indoor herb garden ? If you?re craving the flavor of fresh herbs, try growing some in a sunny window (meaning that it gets at least 6 hours of sun a day). Try rosemary, basil, mint, parsley, thyme or chives.
