The organic combination of city and village

Design description

The contradiction between countryside and urban:

1. The fact that urbanization swallows the countryside is inevitable under the process of urbanization, and the inherent design direction of preserving the countryside cannot satisfy the reality.

2. The fast-paced city life makes people yearn for the countryside, and the development of the village itself prevents people from integrating.

3. The continuous development of urbanization has given birth to a new generation of urban residents who have no knowledge of the countryside. Countryside culture is an important part of Chinese popular culture, and high-quality parts need to be passed on.

Design Purpose:

Implant Countryside space in the city, break the existing urban context through the countryside space complex of different industries, different cultures, and different functions, so as to achieve the effect of blurring the boundary between the city and the countryside.

Design method:

1. Combine primitive agriculture, animal husbandry, etc. with modern technology to achieve large-scale and efficient production

2. Juxtapose and combine agricultural production with the city’s original industrial chain (gene recombination) to create a closelyconnected comprehensive industrial chain .

3. Embed each industrial chain into the urban context to achieve efficient transportation and consumption

4. Each industrial chain has a different impact on the city's regional functions, ideology, culture and lifestyle, leading to changes in the city's regional functions and organic connections.

social relations

Hong Kong has limited land area, extremely high urban plot ratio, lack of public space, and weak operability and renewability of space.

The industrial model and life style in rural areas are relatively unitary

Due to the large building density, weak sunlight and ventilation effect, small residential units, urban living environment is poor.

Many traditional gathering spaces have disappeared, and neighborhood relations have become indifferent.

Design strategy

Countryside

City City

The rural industrial structure is relatively simple and the production efficiency is low. Modern factories in cities can provide equipment to help rural areas achieve efficient industrial production and material recycling. However, the diversity and complexity of rural space can carry different forms of activities in the city according to people's needs, with flexible operation possibilities, and can be combined with living production space to improve the living environment of urban residential units.

According to different functions, the site area is divided into five parts: commercial area (shopping malls, office buildings), living area (residential, school, market), industrial area (pier, ferry, container), scenic area (sea view, mountain view) , Arts and Sports Center (exhibition hall, gymnasium).

Different areas have different industries and activities. The strip-shaped rural complexes are arranged according to the local road network, providing different industrial chains for the site, extracting the industrial nodes from them, and adding rural elements as units to each area.

The industry chain is supplemented and expanded, forming a spider web-like connection as a whole.

Each strip is equipped with different functional unit blocks according to the surrounding environment and industry. The unit blocks can be flexibly replaced. The strip acts as a bridge to adjust adjacent blocks and activate the surrounding environment horizontally.

According to the environment, function, industry, we split the whole behemoth, from which the hierarchical analysis, the complex structure is broken down into a number of clear production links.

There are combinatorial relationships between units with the same function and units with different functions.According to the set production relationship, different components can be needed to complete the recombination of space function and production mode.

The Rebirth of Litter

Design of garbage collection tower based on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch

Design Description

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a collection of marine debris in the North Pacific Ocean. Garbage from inland rivers and coasts is collected by ocean currents into the middle of the Pacific Ocean, forming a giant garbage island. The island now covers an area the size of three Texas states combined and is growing every year. The existence of garbage islands has seriously affected Marine life and natural ecology, and if not controlled, it will threaten human beings.

In order to solve this huge "new continent" in the ocean and convert Marine garbage into utilizable energy or reusable materials, the design will establish a complete garbage disposal system in the garbage center. Through the layer by layer sorting mechanism, the existing garbage on the island will be classified according to different material characteristics, and then through hydraulic pressure, pyrolysis and other methods. It can be made into crude oil and solid fuel for the operation of the whole system, restore Marine ecology and feed human society.

Formation Analysis

When accounting for the total mass, 92% of the debris found in the patch consists of objects larger than 0.5 cm, and three-quarters of the total mass is made of macro and mega plastic.

The GPGP covers an estimated surface area of 1.6 million square kilometers, an area twice the size of Texas or three times the size of France.

Types of Garbage

H:Duroplasts

N:Rope/Net

P:Pre-Production Plastics

F:Foam Materials

The vast majority of plastics retrieved were made of rigid or hard polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP), or derelict fishing gear (nets and ropes particularly). Ranging in size from small fragments to larger objects and meter-sized fishing nets.

Rubbish

Problem Devolopment Garbage Patch Distribution

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which has been around for decades, is the result of the accumulation of human-made trash from rivers and coasts that accumulates in the center of the ocean through the action of ocean currents to form an expanding island of trash. The waste is mainly composed of plastic, which contains a large amount of bulky waste and countless harmful particles that are broken down. The continuous accumulation of garbage is eaten by Marine organisms, so that a large number of animals die, and has a huge impact on the natural ecological environment. The animals that eat the sewage and the polluted sea water are used by human beings, which will threaten human daily life.

Above the Bridge

Bridge renovation design based on stimulating activity along Haihe River

Design Description

Haihe River is the mother river of Tianjin people. The formation of Haihe River is closely related to the development of Tianjin as a whole. Local residents rely on Haihe River to carry out various daily activities. After the popularity of "Tianjin Diving Master", more and more people came to take photos on the banks of Haihe River and the bridge over Haihe River, coupled with the daily activities of residents, the Haihe River became more and more chaotic, resulting in the termination of some activities.

In order to continue the vitality along the Haihe River and stimulate the possibility of more activities, the design will transform a steel frame bridge named "Progress Bridge" near the center of Tianjin, so that the traffic-oriented bridge can form more space nodes to stay, to meet the activity needs of various groups of people.

Tianjin prospers because of the Haihe River, which is not only a chance for the survival and development of Tianjin people, but also the spiritual foundation and cultural source of Tianjin people. The daily activities of Tianjin people are closely related to the Haihe River, but with the continuous growth of the city, there are some contradictions in the activities of people on the seaside.

Tianjin is an alluvial plain formed by silt, and the Yellow River has changed its course three times to enter the sea near Tianjin, often flooding

Formation Analysis Problem

The canal brought a flourishing trade and cultural exchange

In modern times, water transport mainly served the rising industry

Industry did not lag behind, and the industries along the Haihe river were basically dismantled

In order to meet the needs of the public, the activity space is designed in the Hai River

After the water system gradually stabilized, various Kings in North China began to build canals, a major hub of the Haihe Canal Bridge Swimming Playing of Music Photography Drawing Rope Skipping Fitness Walk the Dog Coffee

Go Shopping

On the river bridge, which is mainly used for transportation , a few residents enjoy recreational activities such as diving on the bridge. With the popularity of diving, more and more people flock to the bridge.

The waterfront walk along the Haihe River has always been a popular leisure site, but the original long linear space is difficult to meet the rich activity needs, and people need more space nodes

Cat sanctuary

Stray cat and human co-existence space

Design Description

The problem of stray cats on campus is becoming more and more prominent. In today's campus environment, due to human abandonment and rapid reproduction of stray cats, the number of stray cats on campus has increased sharply, which directly affects the ecological environment of the campus.

The purpose of the design is to create a small structure so that stray cats can live safely in the building and meet their daily dietary and activity needs. In addition, people in the campus can indirectly participate in the play and care of stray cats, and finally form a leisure space for people and cats to coexist.

Concept generating The stray cat problem

Stray animals have caused many problems in the urban environment. Taking stray cats on campus as an example, due to their strong reproductive ability, the number of stray cats has increased rapidly on campus, posing a threat to other animals on campus, polluting the environment with excreted waste, making it difficult to meet the demand for food, and causing a high risk of disease. At the same time, stray cats will also produce stress reactions in daily contact with people, resulting in wounding incidents. If there is no proper solution strategy, the social problems of stray cats will become more serious.

Cell generation

Stray cats conflict with the circulation lines of bicycles and cars in the campus due to foraging and running away, resulting in limb disability and other consequences for stray cats. In the cold winter, stray cats spend a lot of time huddled near car tires to keep warm, which is easy to run over when the car starts, resulting in injuries.

There is no artificial medical assistance for stray cats on campus, and most of the abandoned pet cats cannot adapt to the natural environment, suffer from diseases that are difficult to cure, or are already sick when they are abandoned, and have a short survival time.

Space compound

Axonometric of section

The whole building is divided into two parts by the curved structure in the middle, one is used as a space for people, and the other is used as a space for cats. Cats can travel between different Spaces, and the curling roof can form a more private space, providing different functions for cats. People can move around in open Spaces and interact with cats in different areas.
