NEW COMMERCIAL BANKING CERTIFICATE BECAUSE IT ALL STARTS WITH BANKING A commercial banking certificate program for finance majors! The Commercial Banking Certificate Program is designed to prepare undergraduate finance majors for careers in commercial banking. Students take four courses related to the commercial banking industry, and upon graduation they receive a Certificate in Commercial Banking as well as their bachelor’s degree in finance.

Special scholarship opportunities are available. In order to be eligible (and remain eligible) for a scholarship, students must maintain at least a 3.25 GPA.
Students receive top priority for paid internship positions with banks across the state of Texas.

How to Apply
Students must have completed FIN 3320 with a grade of B- or higher and should apply no later than the fall semester of their junior year.

*special section for banking certificate students Three of the four courses in the Commercial Banking Certificate Program can be used to fulfill the nine hours of electives for finance majors. Therefore, only one additional course is needed for finance majors to complete this certificate program. The four courses in the Commercial Banking Certificate Program must be taken in residence (i.e., no transfer credit).

To be awarded a Commercial Banking Certificate, students must maintain an average GPA of 3.0 or higher across all four certificate courses.
In addition to the coursework required for the finance major, banking certificate students should take their certificate courses according to the timeline given below:
