PAU L G O E B E L, Ph.D. Paul R. Goebel is the interim dean and James E. and Elizabeth F. Sowell Professor of Finance at the Rawls College of Business. Dr. Goebel has represented Texas Tech in numerous capacities, including serving as Faculty Senate President and being a member of the graduate faculty and Teaching Academy. He holds an MBA and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. Dr. Goebel has taught all areas of real estate since 1980, and has been involved in real estate development, valuation, brokerage and mortgage lending since 1982. He has been a licensed Texas real estate broker since 1984. Dr. Goebel has been the advisor of the Finance Association, Beta Gamma Sigma, and is currently the co-advisor of the Real Estate Organization. Dr. Goebel’s articles have been published in the Journal of Property Research, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Research and the Appraisal Journal, and he is also the co-author of three books on mortgage finance. He is a former chairman of the City of Lubbock Planning and Development Commission and former chairman of the board of directors for the Texas Tech Federal Credit Union. Dr. Goebel currently serves as a member of the City of Lubbock Planning and Zoning Commission and as the vice-chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Texas. Dr. Goebel was recently appointed to the board of directors of Scenic Texas.
