This waterfront project was designed to maintain a lightness on the horizon with lateral s t r u c t u r a l r i b s m i n i m i z i n g s u n b l o c k a g e . The Permaculture center sought a permanent home for For t Mason’s farmers’ market, as well as address the issue of urban permaculture. Rising above, the cross-braced frames a l l o w t h e i n s e r t i o n a n d r e m o v a l o f g r o w i n g s p a c e s b a s e d o n c u r r e n t n e c e s s i t y.

Developed as a book show installation to frame thesis literature, the 250k zip-tie installation took 5 days to build. Dynamic lighting and music enhanced the organic nature of the space allowed by the repetition of a series of zip-tie modules.
Te s t i n g M a t e r i a l L i m i t s
In an effor t to push the material limits of plywood and acrylic which both allow lightness and strength, the 116 panel and 354 clips composed a floating spatial surface spanning 12 ft. and raising 6’. The result was a flowing dynamic micro-space.
V e l l u m Ta b l e C o m p e t i t i o n
A d d r e s s i n g t h e c a p a b i l i t i e s a n d i n a b i l i t i e s o f C N C m a c h i n i n g a n d m o d u l a r i t y, t h e t a b l e was structures using hundreds of friction fit joints on four modules. The introduction o f l i g h t i n g a n d C N C p r e c i s i o n a l l o w e d l i g h t t o t r a n s m i t t h r o u g h t h e t h i n p l y.
