ELITE-LEVEL MEDICAL CARE

Green Wave student-athletes are treated at the nationally recognized Center for Sport at Tulane University

THE CENTER FOR SPORT AT TULANE UNIVERSITY

The Center for Sport is devoted to providing world-class service to athletes at all levels and ages with a 360-degree approach.

The Center’s work for athletes includes medical and health services, training programs and social outreach. Future plans include the addition of legal and business programs designed to support players and other sport-focused initiatives such as biomedical device engineering.

Through this approach, the Center is able help athletes excel in their sport and improve the emotional and physical lives of current and former athletes.

No entity embodies the work and mission of the Center for Sport more than the Tulane University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics — a “living lab” where athletics and academics meet. Services and programs developed at the Center for Sport are aided by working closely with student athletes and staff in the Department of Athletics.

This relationship allows the Center for Sport to provide additional resources and opportunities to student athletes for achieving competitive success and personal growth through sportsmanship.

NFL NEUROLOGICAL CARE PROGRAM DESIGNATION

The Center for Sport is actively involved in programs funded by the NFL Player Care Foundation and NFL Players Association to provide medical services to current and former NFL players.

The Tulane Medical Center is one of five centers nationwide providing a team of neurological specialists to the NFL Neurological Care Program. This program assists retired NFL players by facilitating access to and coordinating care with these specialists, who conduct comprehensive evaluations and can offer treatment for potential neurological conditions.

NFLPA TRUST BRAIN & BODY PROGRAM

The Trust (powered by the NFLPA) offers medical/wellness programs designed to assess health needs and provide world-class medical services to former NFL players.

NFL PLAYER CARE FOUNDATION HEALTHY BODY & MIND SCREENING PROGRAM

In partnership with the Tulane School of Medicine, the NFL Player Care Foundation (PCF) conducts the Healthy Body and Mind Screening Program, a free national screening program open to all former NFL players.

The screening includes a series of confidential cardiovascular and prostate screenings as well as mental health resources and education.

These screenings are part of PCF’s research programs, which help to advance public awareness and scientific understanding of health issues that affect former NFL players.
