Túlio Rossini Ferreira Zanatta | Architect and Urban Designer | Portfolio
p.1 - Introduction
Hello, I’m Túlio Zanatta and this is my portfolio. By means of introduction, I’m a 25-year-old Brazilian young architect and urban designer seeking to learn and expand my references in the architectural and design field. I’m passionate about the architectural values and the professional practices that it involves. I was born and raised in Uberlândia, a medium-sized town in southeastern Brazil. I graduated there and during my journey in college, I had the opportunity to collaborate with two different architectural offices working on interiors, residential, hospitality, and urban design. These experiences allowed me to become a good player at teamwork, as well as it made me good at problemsolving and working in deadline-driven environments. I have a strong interest in design development, construction documentation, detailing solutions, graphics, and model-making. I’m a fast learner always seeking the best solution for the project. I’m glad to share with you my last works.

MUNA MUSEUM + ARTIST RESIDENCES Location: Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil Year: 2018-2019 Undergraduate Design Studio Category: Museum and Exhibition Projects
The expansion project for the University Museum of Art is distributed in the site in a fragmented way, understanding that such action establishes a greater relationship with the surroundings and enhances urban life. The layout proposes the creation of public patios interconnecting two opposite streets. These spaces determine areas of conviviality, leisure, and appropriation for the museum, seeking to strengthen the interaction between the public and the activities developed by the museum. The project is structured in 5 main blocks, with independent access and circulation, guaranteeing autonomy for the users at different times, enabling an urban night-time dynamic for the region.

INDIAN MUSEUM | MUSÍNDIO Location: Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil Year: 2018-2019 Undergraduate Design Studio Category: Museum and Exhibition Projects + Adaptive Reuse
This project is an Adaptive Reuse for the Olympio de Freitas Costa House, an important building in the city’s cultural scene. The main activities of the Indian Museum were allocated in the existing house, while the other activities were allocated in fragments attached to the lot, connected by a single common shelter. The five blocks create a large public square and complement the museum’s program. A translucent walkway connects the existing to the new and reveals the activities of its interior, causing curiosity in those who walk on the sidewalk. The attached annexes highlight the new additions using construction materials different from the pre-existing building, such as concrete, metallic structure, aluminum and glass frames, wood, and honeycomb polycarbonate. The project brings discussions about the influence of natural light in the conservation of works of art and the definition of linear paths in exhibition circuits. For the spaces destined for the exhibitions, and architecture was chosen that guarantees flexibility to the artists in the assembly of expographic projects, giving freedom both in the technical aspects and in the definition of the flows of the museum. MERIDIANA BUILDING ADAP TIV E REUSE Location: Milan, Lombardia, Italy Year: 2020-2021 Master Design Studio Category: Adaptive Reuse Projects
The intervention is focused on the existing qualities of the Meridiana by creating a unique way to experience the building. To achieve it a lighting journey is crafted starting from the main entrance where we transformed the interior space into a double height space with a lift and a mezzanine. Slits with specially designed lens are carved on the façade and roof to create performative sun ray projection inside. Creating an ephemeral and immaterial experience that changes throughout the day. The concept is expanded to the whole building through four types of lighting effects: performative light at the entrance, guidance light that highlight the circulation areas in the workspace, the skylight that highlights the stairs insertion and a volume insertion that pops out of the building as a light box which resulted as a mezzanine that generates new spatial qualities and performance within the old building.

MASTERPL AN | AU TODROMO DI MONZA URBAN RENOVATION Location: Monza, Lombardia, Italy Year: 2019-2020 MSc Interior and Spatial Design Studio Politecnico di Milano
Inspired by the racing environment in Autodromo and the Formula One event hosted in the area annually, the project has as the main concept the drift movement from the cars. The drift is the movement of a car along some direction other than its steered trajectory, involv-ing a slip angle at one or both axles. Usually, racing circuits all over the world have integrated into the racetrack areas that can hold unexpected movements in sensitive areas. The project takes inspiration from these ordinary areas and brings it a completely innovative way to the Autodromo.

TASTE HUB | FOOD FU T URE L ABORATORY Location: Southwark, London, United Kingdom Year: 2019-2020 MSc Interior and Spatial Design Studio Potitecnico di Milano
Tasting spot is a place to experiment and discover new tastes by holding workshops, inviting guests, and researchers who are active in designing and creating future foods and tastes. The exhibition part will show the creative and innovative products developed by the Lab and it will also offer some interactive parts that the visitors can create their own formula - growing recipes - according to different inputs that will affect the final aspects of the vegetable. The whole project was designed in a way that can host different activities and scenarios happening in the taste hub, the mobile part is the key structure that can create these different scenarios. We try to refurbish this building in an adaptive way also merge the indoor and outdoor in some scenarios to create the community as our concept. The main key-words that were guidelines for the development of this project are Production, Innovation, and Community. In the Lab, we place innovation and production together.

1st scenario - It shows when the movable structure is completely open. There are tables all over the space to receive the public that can be arranged in different layouts.
2nd scenario - When the movable structure is partially closed it offers the posibility to host different activities in the inner space, as workshops, exhibitions. and group interactions.

3rd scenario - The layout proposed shows
a dinner experience layout. The tables are placed all together and it becomes a unique area for the workshops.
4th scenario - Closing completely the movable structure the lab has the possibility to use it as a cinema or an auditorium. When desired, the movies can be displayed on the translucid panels and can be seen from the outside, drawing the attention of those who pass by on the street.

MODEL MAKING 3D PRINTING
Location:Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, BRAZIL Year: 2017-2019 Projects developed at .a associated architects
During my internship at .a associated architects I proposed to them to start to experiment with 3D printing during the design process and for also for final clients’ presentations. The 3D printing technology is a good way that we can fastly prototype solutions and end up in a physical model to discuss with the team. They dove into the idea and together we produced several prototypes for different projects on-going.

MODEL MAKING | EDIBLE CITIES RETHIKING FOOD PRODUCTION Location: Low Line, London, UK Year: 2019-2020 MSc Interior and Spatial Design Studio Politecnico di Milano | Middlesex University
The opportunity to build - or to cook - this model in the urban scale allows me not to make just a single dish to be tasted, but it gives to me the chance of doing a dish to be shared. Food is about sharing, is about being together. We all know that we need food to survive and to respond to our physical conditions, but food goes much further. Base on that, the map of Low Line area was divide in a rectangular shape - making reference to a serving tray and 9 small pieces have been added on the top of it covering the surrounds of the rails. The ideia is that each bar can offer a small and individual portion that can be easily tasted using just the hands. To make each bar, to print it and to make it edible I’m forced to analyse different types of information in advance. That’s when the design process and the research analysis became fully integrated.
