When in doubt, make a list of everything you need or want to do. And when I say everything, I mean everything. Getting that information out of my head and onto a piece of paper has been a key to my success (and my sanity) over the years.

Was there one piece of advice you received during your career from which all lawyers &/or judges could benefit?

"Wherever you go, there you are." Changing your situation won’t change who you are. Everyone has an opportunity to make their world, and the world at large, better from right where they are.

Anything else you’d like the TCBA members to know?

If you're interested in arguing your client’s case before the Court, file a motion requesting oral argument pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 1.9. Surprisingly, for what is likely a complex set of reasons, we receive very few such motions. To quote an author far more eloquent than myself: “Ask for what you want and be prepared to get it!”
