2ND ANNUAL HBA LEGACY AWARDS

On September 10th, 2020, the Home Builders Association of Greater Tulsa (HBA) hosted their 2nd Annual Legacy Awards. The Legacy Awards event was created to honor HBA members who have demonstrated long-term dedication to the Association. Two awards honor HBA members Frank Sanders and Don Herrington who exemplified the characteristics of a perfect Associate and Builder, respectively. The recipient of this year’s Frank Sanders Memorial Award is Jimmy Holmes with Installed Building Products. Jimmy joined the HBA in 2008 and has been an active volunteer member of the Associates Council, Membership Committee, fishing tournament and Home & Garden Show. The recipient of the Don Herrington Memorial Award been a member since the 1970s and has served in various HBA leadership positions for over four decades, most notably as President. In 2018 and 2019, Mr. Blackburn represented HBA members in the state as President of the Oklahoma Home

Four HBA members were recipients of the 42-Year Legacy Award. This award recognizes individuals who have been HBA members for the past 42 years, an Association milestone commemorating HBA’s 1942 charter from the National Association of Home Builders. Recipients of the 42-Year Legacy Award were Frank Watkins with Watkins Sand, Lindsay Perkins with Lindsay Development, Steve Fulps with Abatement Systems, and David Blackburn with Classe’ Homes. This year, two families were honored with the inaugural Generational Family Legacy Award, both representing four generations in the home building industry. Family patriarchs, Ted Klein and P. A. Jenkins, Jr. instilled the values of hard

work and loyalty in their children, who in turn,

passed those traits along to their children and grandchildren, with each generation adding to their heritage of residential construction in the Tulsa metropolitan area. Klein-Daffern family members accepting the Generational Builder Legacy Award were Ken Klein, Kristin Klein-Daffern, and Lucas Daffern (Kleinco Construction, LLC). Jenkins family members accepting the Generational Builder Legacy Award were Darrell Jenkins, Allen Jenkins, and Paxton Jenkins (Silvercrest Homes).
