SHOPPING
THE BOXYARD
Inspired by an iconic London development, the Boxyard is a micro-mall constructed of repurposed shipping containers. Shops sell men’s, women’s and children’s fashion; skateboard gear; and candy, snacks and drinks. You’ll also find various dining options, such as the Open Container Restaurant and Bar, Sabores Mexican Cuisine and Rose Rock Microcreamery. “There’s a little something for everybody and something for everyone to discover,” says developer/owner Casey Stowe of Nelson+Stowe Development. A huge patio provides a spectacular view of the Tulsa skyline and often hosts live music.

Interior designer Hari Lu Ames loves to travel the U.S. and Europe, bringing back new, worldly pieces to Tulsa. She sells the items at her shop Embellishments, a perfect fit for Tulsa’s posh retail scene on the midtown strip of East 15th commonly called Cherry Street. Ames’ signature look contrasts the character of antique furniture with the clean lines of modern design — an aesthetic she calls “modern history.” “There are a lot of ways to make a pretty room,” Ames explains. “The space you live in should feel comfortable and reflect your personal taste.”
