Tulsa’s neighbor to the east is packed with hometown charms and family friendly events.

Broken Arrow’s downtown Main Street — also known as the Rose District — has everything a trendy shopping district could need. There are high-quality restaurants to satisfy any craving, upscale shopping and plenty of activities on this strip. With breakfast spots, salons, a yoga studio, steakhouses and boutiques, there is something for everybody in the Rose District. Complete with the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center, a library and an interactive water feature, there is plenty to entertain whomever visits.

This year’s Taste of Summer is from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Aug. 5, at Central Park on Main. The annual event is a celebration of all things summer, including unlimited Blue Bell ice cream, a kids’ craft area, food vendors, shopping, water inflatables and so much more. Tickets can be purchased at tasteofsummerba.com.

Several memorials stand at Veterans Park, located on the southern end of Main Street, right next door to the Broken Arrow Veterans Center, which serves as offices for local chapters of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion and others.
