“Our Moment in Time“

installation at TUMO Center for Creative Technologies

“Our Moment in Time” exhibition is dedicated to 100th anniversary of Armenian genocide. Based on the works created by TUMO students aged 16-21 in the scope of “Productive Design” workshop conducted by Vasken Brudian, Ardēan established a new visual vocabulary. The exhibition is an installation of 100 art works. These are the result of the combination of new technologies and artistic hand. The resulting works developed into elaborate semi-abstractions that engage in the concerns of collective identity, history, memory and attempt to introduce a distinct national visual narrative. With their viewpoints and multiple visual languages, the paintings represent complexity as well as a historic trace from our past to present.

“Breath“

installation at Cafesjian Center for the Arts

The exhibition “Breath” is a coolective effort between Ardēan Design Group and approximately forty youngsters from TUMO Center for Creative Technologies under the leadership of architect Vasken Brudian. The title Breath is extracted from St. Gregory of Narek’s Book of Lamentations, from which passages are the conceptual elements in the created works. The exhibition features a site-specific installation of about 100 hand-painted collages. It is focused on four major themes; The Tangible and the Ethereal, Soul Invigorating Breath, Under a New Light, Inspirit. The art works include literature by 10th –century Armenian medieval poet and philosopher St. Gregory of Narek and various herbs that were written about by Mkhitar Heratsi, a 12th-century physician and the father of Armenian medicine. These works together are the basis of the composition; one attempting to reinvigorate the soul, the other-the body.
