ELS MUNTANYANS PROTECTED AREA

Forma part d’un dels espais naturals protegits més preuats del litoral català: «Platja de Torredembarra i Creixell - Els Muntanyans». Es tracta d’una zona humida, on l’aigua dolça de l’aqüífer i de la pluja es barreja amb l’aigua del mar per formar un mosaic d’hàbitats que allotja una rica biodiversitat de flora i fauna. L’espai representa un conjunt de sistemes naturals singulars i molt fràgils, alguns d’ells poc freqüents a les costes catalanes.

This is part of one of the most highly-valued protected areas anywhere on the Catalan coast: “Torredembarra and Creixell Beach - Els Muntanyans”. This is a marsh where rainwater and freshwater from aquifers mix with the seawater to form a mosaic of habitats that houses a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna. The area is formed by a variety of unique, highly fragile ecosystems, some of which are very rare on the Catalan coast.
