On Saturday 1st 0f October Mojácar marked the day of the Prettiest Villages in Spain, an annual event which is to support the efforts to preserve the artistic and cultural heritage of the most beautiful parts of the country. Mojácar has been part of this prestigious group since 2013 and from this year, will be listed among the most beautiful places in the world. The Mojácar Department of Tourism scheduled a series of events to mark this celebration, which began with the raising of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain Association flag by the Deputy Mayor of Mojácar and Councillor for Tourism, Emmanuel Agüero, accompanied by members of the Corporation. Also attending were, Beatriz Becket, President of the Valparaiso Foundation and her staff, as well as numerous local business people and residents. Emmanuel Agüero noted the importance and significance of Mojácar being one of the most beautiful villages in Spain as well as the constant commit-
ment that this necessitates throughout all aspects of municipal activities. The impact of this seal of quality is a notable contributing factor in the marked increase in the number of visitors the town registered during the 2016 season the previous year.
Enquiries at the Mojácar Tourist Office have increased by 12.6% up to September 2016 and it is expected that this number will increase by the end of the year. The celebrations of the most beautiful towns in the world included a guided tour.
Mojácar´s Municipal Band enjoys special trip The younger members of the Mojácar Municipal Band have been on a cultural trip courtesy of Mojácar Town Council. This is in recognition of the various concerts they have taken part in throughout the year and, for their collaboration in events organized by the Town Hall. The four day trip included visits to Alcalá del Júcar in Albacete, Madrid and the Balneario (Spa) of Archena.
