400 JEDDAH MUSEUM JEDDAH-SAUDI ARABIA AR 496 - fall 2008 Function: Design a museum that represent Jeddah city Site Area: 4061.5 m2 Description: In this design studio we were given a task to design a museum that represent Jeddah. Jeddah had long history and consider very old city and many cultures and civilizations have passed by this city. Also it’s famous by the name the Bride of the red sea and it's the main port for the pilgrims that come to visit Makkah city. The first thing I thought of is to design a building to the citizen of the city that why it should have activity inside and outside of the building. My concept was to represent the main characteristics of the city into four exhibition halls. The first hall was about the history of the city, the second hall was about the city culture, the third hall was for the extraordinary citizens from writers, painters, inventors and many other to showcase their works. The forth hall is to present the valuable items of the city. As for the shape of the building I thought about the red sea and I used the Jilly Fish shape and I tried to transfer this shape into a building. The outside area of the building was design as a park for all the families and the citizen of Jeddah.

Site Area: 21499 m2 Description: In this design studio we were given task to design a rehabilitation center for handicap people taking to consideration the requirement for designing for the handicap also the type of this handicap. My approach was to make this building as clear as possible with clear and direct lines that connect the whole building. I tried to make lot of open spaces inside of the building to give a cool wind and warm light that smoothly enter the building, giving the patients a home feeling. For me the traditional exterior was to give an authenticity, honor, individuating, and in the same time a sense of community. Hoping to make the building itself part of the treatment process.

500 DEVELOPMENT OF AL NADA AXIS JEDDAH-SAUDI ARABIA AR 598 - fall 2009 Function: redesign Alnada axis of the historical area in Jeddah city. Description: In this design studio we were given a task to present a conceptual development design for Alnada axis. Al nada is one of the main axises at the historical area in Jeddah, also it considered the oldest market in the city. Demolition the whole area was not allowed and that because the axis has many buildings that consider historical and we must save these building and the surrounding areas. My approach in the design was to demolish the unnecessary buildings and have more open spaces to give the area more breather areas. I also arranged the hights of the buildings so they be in a better harmony. I divided the axis to three sections the first section was residential area and that was because the area had many historical buildings and it can be a very good attraction for the tourists. The second section was mostly commercial. The last section was for hotels and recreations area
