Did you know deciduous trees provide additional shading to help keep a home cooler in the summer while allowing the sun’s warm rays help heat a home in the winter? And did you know, properly planted deciduous trees can cut air conditioning costs by 15 to 30 percent, in addition to the face that trees help clean the air, provide oxygen and reduce pollution? These are some of the reasons TID is partnering with The Greenery, in Turlock, to assist our customers in reducing their energy costs (while creating a healthy environment) with our Premier Shade Tree Program. TID will be selling vouchers in our offices, that will allow you to pick up a tree kit at The Greenery on specific
designated days. The tree kit will include: • a choice of 5 gallon tree: October Glory Maple or Keith Davies Pistache • 1 cubic feet of planting mix • 4-pound bag of fertilizer This kit retails for over $100, however, TID customers only pay $20! Between August 1st and September 6th TID customers can come into any of our offices to purchase a voucher for $20 and fill out our Premier Shade Tree application. Participants then take the voucher and receipt to The Greenery on either Saturday, September 14th or Sunday, September 22nd to pick up their tree kit.
In order to qualify for the program you must: • be a TID customer • complete the Premier Shade Tree application • and trees must be planted within 15 feet of the home on either the East, West or South side of the home All trees are subject to inspection and verification and are subject to availability. TID customers are eligible for 2 vouchers per household while supplies last. Please contact rebates@tid.org or call (209) 883-8432 with any questions. You may also visit www.tid.org/premiershadetree for more information about this program.

Measuring Reliability As your trusted energy partner, TID is responsible for providing our customers with safe, reliable and competitively priced electrical service. One way the utility industry measures electrical service reliability is with System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI). SAIDI measures the average duration (in minutes) TID customers experience service interruption during a sustained power outage. Through May 2019, the District’s year to date SAIDI is at 17.3 minutes, which is trending slightly lower than this time in 2018. In 2018, the TID’s annual SAIDI was just 52.7 minutes. By comparison, the industry standard in 2017 was approximately 120 minutes. TID crews work hard to ensure reliability and keep our customers’ lights on.

Wildfire Mitigation TID continually monitors, revises and expands our wildfire safety efforts throughout our service territory and beyond. The safety of our employees, customers and community is our top priority. While we’re fortunate that the majority of TID’s service area is not designated as a High Fire Threat area, other communities outside the TID service area may experience Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS). It is not likely that TID will need to
implement the use of PSPS. To find out more about TID’s Wildfire Mitigation efforts and for information on how to prepare your home and property, visit www.tid.org/ widlfiremitigation. The District’s Fire Mitigation Plan will be posted for public review and comment August 1 through 31 and all are welcome to attend the Board Workshop on Oct. 8 at which the Plan will be reviewed.
