Turlock Irrigation District has adopted an electric vehicle (EV) program that will roll-out on January 1, 2019. The program focuses attention on the growing support for transportation electrification in California led by Governor Brown’s Executive Order B-48-18, which calls for 5 million Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) on the road by 2030. The core of the TID’s program is increasing the number of customers who own electric vehicles by providing rebates for the purchase of new or used zero-emission battery electric vehicles. TID will provide rebates of $300 per vehicle for all residential customers, with a limit of two per household. TID customers enrolled in the CARES program will receive an additional $700 per vehicle. To further assist residential customers in electric vehicle adoption, TID is also providing rebates for charging equipment. Level 2 chargers that are permanently installed in a home will receive a rebate of $300 per charger, also with a limit of two per household. CARES customers will receive an additional $100 per charger, for a total of $400. Businesses and local government agencies are also an important part of the District’s EV program. territory for public or employee charging, TID is providing a rebate of $1,000. This rebate is limited to one per business and is intended to introduce a range of organizations to transportation electrification. For more complex transportation electrification projects, TID has started a community partnership program that will provide assistance for electric vehicles, charging stations, or other transportation electrification costs. In addition to the new EV program, the District is excited to announce two new ways for customers to save energy and money. Beginning January 1, 2019, TID will offer a $50 rebate if you install a qualifying Smart Thermostat. A Smart Thermostat is a Wi-Fi-enabled device
that can automatically adjust heating and cooling temperature settings for optimal performance. Controlling your temperature with an Energy Star® certified Smart Thermostat could help you save energy and stay comfortable in your home. Do you have an old refrigerator or freezer that needs to be replaced or removed? Get rid of that energy waster and get a $35 rebate from TID with the new Refrigerator Recycling program. When you recycle your old, inefficient refrigerator or freezer with TID, we’ll pick it up for FREE and you’ll get a $35 rebate. For more information on TID’s Electric Vehicle program and many other rebates available to customers, please visit TID.org/rebates.
