GEARING UP FOR THE ARCTIC WINTER GAMES

t he airport in Inuvik has been busy with athletes from all over the I sr flying through for a rctic Winter g ames tryouts in Yellowknife. t he games will be celebrating its 20th anniversary and will once again allow northern youth a platform for their athletic dreams through friendly competition. Participants hail from a laska, the n orthwest territories, Yukon, n orthern a lberta, n orthern q uebec ( n unavik), n unavut, the r ussian province of Yamal, g reenland and the s ami people of n orway and Finland. t he Inuvialuit athletes will be competing in diverse sports: a rctic s ports, b adminton, b asketball, s peed s kating, Wrestling and Hockey. r epresentatives from a klavik will also be doing Cultural performances.
