The final stretch of jewelry auctions for 2016 is under way, culminating with a number of major sales in the next couple of weeks. At Leslie Hindman, the Chicago-based auction house offers a cornucopia of jewels in its December 4-5 Important Jewelry sale, including over 1,400 lots of fine certified colored stones, natural colored diamonds, antique jewels, vintage signed works and an expansive and diverse selection of David Webb jewelry. A selection of fine sapphires are among the major highlights of the sale, led by a 5.05-carat Kashmir sapphire and diamond ring, by J.E. Caldwell, circa 1910 (est. $250,000-275,000). A Fine Platinum, Kashmir Sapphire and Diamond Ring, J.E. Caldwell, Circa 1910, containing one antique cushion cut sapphire weighing approximately 5.05 carats, and two old mine cut diamonds weighing approximately 4.07 carats total. Stamp: JEC&CO F20538.
