Finding the Area of a Triangle Finding the Area of a Triangle In geometry, we include the triangle as a most basic shape or figure of the mathematics. Triangle can be consider as a most common and easy figure to understand for the students. In the third and fourth grade’s books the topic of triangle are mostly commonly exists to study. In the proper definition we can define the triangle as a geometrical shape that are enclosed with three straight lines and these straight lines are interconnected at the three points which is known as vertices and straight lines are known as edges. Due to interconnection of edges at the vertices point to each other triangle can be consider in the category of closed figure. The vertices of the triangle can be named by different alphabetic variables in between a to z. In the mathematics we normally use the symbol to represent the variables of the triangle. In the standard definition we can define the triangle as a three sided polygon. Every triangle contains three sides and three angles into it. These three sides or three angles of the triangle can either be same or different. On the basis of sides and angles we can differentiate the triangle into different category.

Types of triangle on the basis of sides: (a ) Equilateral triangle: this is a type of an angle that has all the sides are equal. (b ) isosceles triangle: This is an another type of an angle, in which two sides of the triangle are equal and third one is different. (c ) Scalene triangle: Scalene triangle is an triangle that has all the sides are identical. Types of triangle on the basis of angle: (A ) Acute triangle: in this type of triangle contains all the angle measure of less then 90 degree. (B ) Obtuse Triangle : in this type of triangle when an angle has measure of greater then 90 degree. (c ) Right triangle: This is a special type triangle that contains an angle of 90 degree. As like the other geometrical shape, triangle also has their geometrical area. At that time question arises in our mind that how to Finding the Area of a Triangle. The solution is that in mathematics various kinds of formulas are provided to solve the problem that is related to the calculation of area of geometrical shape. In the same aspect the formula for calculating the area of triangle is exists. To find the area of triangle first of all we need the value of base and height of the triangle. After getting the value perform the multiplication of base and height, after that perform the division of two in the product of base and height of triangle.

Formula for Area of triangle = 1 / 2 * b * h In the above the symbol ‘b’ refers to the value of the base and the symbol ‘h’ refers to the height of the triangle. By the following example we show you the process of Finding the Area of a Triangle. Example: find the area of triangle which has the base of 5 inches and a height of 8 inches? Solution: In the above given that base = 5 inches And the value of height is = 8 inches So, area of triangle = 1 / 2 * base * height =1/2*5*8 = 20 inches2
