How to Find the Volume of a Sphere How to Find the Volume of a Sphere We can find volume of sphere by a simple formula, but first of all we need to learn about the sphere. Sphere is comparable to a circle. As we know that circle can be represented in two dimensions we represent sphere in three - dimension. Circle is the only shape in two - dimension in which all the points are at same distance from the centre. Let us now move to discussion of sphere. A sphere is totally a round object in three dimension. A ball is the best example of sphere, like circle sphere also has some radius and diameter. Like circle can be represented with a general equation, we can represent sphere by a general equation x2 +y2=a2 in which x and y are the parameters and a is radius of the circle. This equation has a wide application in geometry; with the help of this equation you can draw the sphere in the space. As you know well that the direction of x is in horizontal direction and y is in vertical direction. Suppose if we are given two points ( a , b ) in space and a be the radius of the circle, then we can write the above equation as.

(x-a)2+(x-b)2=a2 Now with the help of these two points, we can find the equation of sphere in space. If we are given a three dimensional space with points (a, b, c), then we can represent the equation of sphere as: (x-a)2+(x-b)2 +(x-c)2=a2 Now we will see formula for the Volume of a Sphere that is given below V=4/3πr3 This formula is valid in three dimensional space only. With the help of this formula we can easily calculate the volume of any sphere in dimensional space. If we see this formula properly then we can see that 4/3π is a constant. The value of 4/3π is always remains same for all conditions, so now we can say that volume of the sphere is directly proportional to the radius of the sphere. As the radius of the sphere increases volume increases and as it decreases volume decreases. Now we will see an example how to find the Volume of a sphere in three dimensional space. Example: find the volume of the sphere, if the radius of the sphere is 7m. Solution: Formula for the volume of sphere= 4/3πr3 As we know that radius of the sphere is 7m. And we can put the value of pi as 22/7. Now we will put all these values in the given formula.

V=4/3*(22/7)*7*7*7 Thus we get V= 4/3*22*49 V= 1437.33 m This is the volume of the given sphere with radius 7. In this way we can find the volume of any sphere we just need to have knowledge about radius of sphere.
